  Thieves!!using the fact that you are a tourist and that you do not know which Campsite you make booking and charge an excessive and disproportionate price. Campsite is neglected, dirty and insecure (we woke up in the morning and saw three lionesses inside the neighboring Campsite).

  Unfortunately if you want to book a campsite in the Central Kalahari you have to do so through BigFoot Tours. We booked three nights for two different sites. E-mail response from BigFoot was slow and it turned out impossible to pay the invoice. Even made an expensive phone call from Europe in order to provide our cc details. We left for our trip uncertain if the reservation would come through. With the help of Muchenje campsite we managed to pay for our booking once we were in Botswana. Interestingly it only took a few minutes by phone! The nice thing about camping in the Central Kalahari is the solitude since you will have the entire site to yourself. Unfortunately when we arrived at our first site we found it already occupied by a small tour group. As it was BigFoot just double booked the site several days after we finalized our booking. We have no idea how BigFoot organizes it’s other tours and services but we would not recommend doing business with them.
