Excellent local Bhutanese cuisine was served. They also serve Tourist cuisine ( multi cuisine )😊. We thoroughly enjoyed their local cuisine

When you are traveling in a beautiful country like Bhutan, from one city to another, and you need to have a stopover for lunch.... you are only looking for a basic wayside highway eatery that is typically Bhutanese, is clean, and offers good food as well as good views. When our group tour operator stopped for lunch at this restaurant (on our way from Thimpu to Punakha), it offered all that we were looking for.

With seating in a three side open verandah offering picturesque view of the valley around, bright and colorful local decor, good food and service with a smile which comes from their hearts..... we were more than satisfied. We enjoyed having veg noodles and fried rice... that were freshly cooked. Loved this eatery, presumably run by a family.

From my experience it was very busy that day and we had to struggle to get chairs. The staff couldn't attend us due to rush. So we cancelled our order after waiting for 30 mins. But the location is awesome. I wouldn't recommend for pure vegetarian people.

During our journey from Thimphu to Punakha, our drive and guide suggested us to have a lunch here and we loved the food and decor ;) .

We had the veg noodles, ema datsi, and red rice—the quintessential Bhutanese fare—and found them delightful. Our guide was spot on in recommending this spot .

Please opt for outdoor seating, you will have stunning view of Punaka.

Highly recommend trying the Bhutanese lunch menu here. This place served the best Bhutanese lunch we had on our trip. Although we did see some variation in the items which we got vs some other clients had gotten earlier the same day, not sure of the reason.
Almost all the dishes we got in the menu were really good. Since this a proper tourist place prices are also not so cheap. Anyway, I would still recommend this place quite highly, especially sit in the outer deck soak in the beauty of Bhutan and enjoy local cuisine.
Plenty of Indian dishes also available but we did not order.

We ordered the fixed lunch menu and found it to be amazing. This place has ample Indian dishes to choose from but we ordered authentic Bhutanese food and totally loved it. They have a dining hall and also some tables set out on the deck with a mountain view - highly recommended to call in for a reservation if you want to have lunch on the deck.

Lastly, as the name suggests, this is a tourist restaurant hence the food & beverage prices are at par with a good city restaurant.

2nd - Not sure why this place has such high ratings. The food was absolutely mediocre. Not only that, the menu showed multiple eggs in egg Curry and when the egg curry was delivered there was only one egg and the quantity was literally one cup. Half the items on the menu was not available. The rice had stone in it. The service was good but I would not recommend the place for food.

My guess is that the only reason why this place has high rating is because it is most frequented by people who's taste buds are not refined and are happy to pay less for a meal. If you are well traveled go across the street from this place.
