Paro is the only international airport of the four airports in the Kingdom of Bhutan. It is located 6 km from Paro in a deep valley on the bank of the river Paro Chhu. It looks like a picturesque. It is the sole international airport of the four airports in the Kingdom of Bhutan. It is 6 km (3.7 mi; 3.2 nmi) from Paro in a deep valley on the bank of the river Paro Chhu. With surrounding peaks as high as 5,500 m (18,000 ft), it is considered one of the world's most challenging airports, and only a select number of pilots are certified to land at the airport.
Easily the most beautiful entry to a country I've ever experienced. The flight in was stunning and the airport it's self was real nice. It was still a bit under construction, but still beautiful. And the entire staff were very kind as well.
A pollution free airport with an unforgettable scenic beauty. A must place for visit who likes to enjoy the beauty of Dragon's land.
Cute Airport. Very beautiful and also very efficient. Immigration and Baggage arrival was a breeze. The approach landing was stunning. Amazing experience.
This airport is very small airport as per international standard. But still is very big airport as per space available to Bhutan. It is the only available international airport of Bhutan which connects to different parts of the world especially India thrice to fourth time in a week.
Its an great experience to of landing and takeoff.. as the airport is in high altitude with lots of valleys & mountains
Very Beautiful small Airport in Bhutan .
The only airport beside the River Paro Chu.
Net & clean with Bhutanese style Building.Beautiful sceneries of mountains & wonderful experience.Worth It..
Beautiful airport in the valley. Small airport but Immigration is quick. Great view.
Try and take window seats so that you could enjoy the view of the valley and Himalayas during flight.
Beautiful airport amidst the mountains in Paro. Well maintained and clean. The view of the airport from the nearby mountain is quite awesome as well. The service provided and the staff are quite helpful and supportive. Great ambience and a wonderful experience to take away home. Quite remarkable.
Nice small airport in the beautiful country. Efficient services. Easy immigration services
This is the only International Airport of Bhutan and is a very difficult airport to land as the landing strip is very small. The only airline that operates from this airport is the Druk Air which is the national airline of Bhutan. Happy travelling!!!
Paro International Airport is the only international airport of Bhutan. It is 6 kilometer away from paro in a deep valley beside the river Paro.
Considering the landing experience, it is one of the extreme challenging airport to land. This airport is surrounded by pick as high as 15,000 ft. It is 54 KM away from thimpu, the capital of Bhutan.
Very little airport but I assure you that you will get an amazing experience while plane will be landed in the ground, you will get a nice view of mountains, will see a small river called Paro Chu. The airport is surrounded by mountains so it's risky for the pilots to land any airplane in the runway. As far I know that Paro international airport is listed as an dengerous airport where pilots need to release sweat from their head! You will get an warn welcome from Bhutan airport authority. Last time when I was there I had an experience with a little rain with slow wind, I must have to say that it was an amazing experience in my life. Don't the opportunity to visit there.
It is so small Airport in Bhutan. The beauty of this airport looks so amazing, everything are there well organised. I have visited there on 11.12.2017. It is situated on a valley at a altitude of 7200 feet or 2195 meter. A small river named Paro Chu is passed away just beside the airport. The airport is surrounded by hills. While flights are take off form the ground, it seems the flights may get touched with hills. During that time temperature was around 4°C to 15°C. We have enjoyed the weather there.
Oct 2017. A small airport with beautiful Bhutanese architecture. Efficient customs and luggage retrieval. The welcome entourage outside the airport is fantastic. Only 1 forex exchange shop at arrival. A few shops selling souvenirs and 1 selling drinks at departure hall.
Very small airport comparing to other international airports. Their luggage handling is so fast. But at early morning money exchange isn't available.
One of the most challenging airports in the world. Awesome scenery. Great atmosphere.
With surroundings as high as 5,500m. Flights to and from Paro are allowed under weather conditions and are restricted to daylight hours from sunrise to sunset.
Paro airport was the only Airport in Bhutan until 2011. Paro Airport is accessible by road, from paro & till now only 8 pilots are certified to land in that port.
Very small & scenic airport at Paro. Last time i visited in 2013 only Royal Bhutan Druk Air flights operated. Very less crowded. The approach to the airport while landing is one of the most challenging approaches in the world as the pilot had to maneuver the plane through mountains while flying low.
Visited this place in November 2016. This place is no way like what a usual airports looks like, its calm without any hustle bustle. The first thing that you notice after landing here is the air quality (if someone is coming here from metropolitan city like Delhi).
Architecture of the airport and surrounding office buildings is just like other Bhutanese monasteries. Airport does provide only basic amenities and size is small. Definitely it is the most beautiful airport that i have seen.
Tip:
1. While landing please watch outside - observe the tress, mountains and river stream coming nearby, it was an awesome experience for me.
2. Bhutan is a tobacco free country. Please declare any tobacco products that you may be carrying with you, pay custom duty (around 100%) to be in legal possession of tobacco.
Only international airport of Bhutan. One of the most beautiful airport in the world. Neat and clean helpful staff. Flight landing is TRICKY..
Small and naturally beautiful. This small airport is considered as one of the most beautiful yet challenging airport in the world. The airport is located few kilometers from Paro valley.
Is the most amazing airport where you get to walk from the plane in the airfield to the main building. Airport officials are friendly and efficient.
Visited Paro Airport in Summer. The place is so nice and the location of the airstrip is just beyond description. It is counted among the most beautiful runways and airstrips in the world. Runway is between two hills. Architecture of the airport office is just like other Bhutanese monasteries.
Airport does provide only basic amenities and size is small and lacks many features as the other modern airports. Airport taxis are also very costly. Number of flights are also very less. Although you should visit the place once.
During flight landing and take offs, nearby roads are made closed for vehicles. View of flight landing and take offs is also awesome from the nearby road.
Easily one of my favourite airports in the world. Its small and quaint but the experience of landing and taking off from this airport makes it a worthy destination.
Basic airport. Clean and simple. It has a single ground floor structure. Very few flights in a day with most in the morning. Check in, security, immigration very fast. Most shops sell handicrafts. Seating area has limited space so it might feel a bit congested. Overall decent functional airport for a country like Bhutan. My flight was on time and the staff was courteous and professional.
