This is a Buddhist lake where a saint and treasure revealer Terton Pema Lingpa jumped into the lake with a butter lamp in his hand and came out with treasure. The lamp was still burning when he came out. Therefore, it is called Maebar (burning lamp) Tsho (lake). It is situated in a deep gorge where Tang rivers flows through.
