One of the attractions in Thimphu city, Bhutan.
Peaceful location away from the city hustle.
The road leading towards the point is a little confusing but once you are on the road it gets you somewhere else.
The inside of the temple is more beautiful than the outside. Its completely quite and no photographs allowed inside. A large buddha statue is placed inside and people offer prayers with divine.

you get a lovely view of the area from up here and its even more beautiful during the sunset. the view of the valley from up here looks brilliant and the weather is windy and cool. the Fog sets in later on and early on in the morning. this place is very close to the city which makes it a brilliant quick morning or evening getaway from the bustling city life.

Largest bronze statue of Lord Buddha in world. Located on top of mountain near Thimphu. Great view of valley and snow clad mountains.
Very serene and peaceful in the temple.
Work was still under progress when I visited in Mar 18.
    Must visit site.

Probably one of the best tourist sights in the capital. Took my Thai teacher there and she absolutely loved it! Be careful of the cold and wild animals I’ve heard of before, not sure though. And to my countrymen, stop doing funny business out here! It’s Buddha’s area and keep it serene and stop the monkey business!

It is situated at the top of the hill. It can be seen from far away. It is a statue of Lord Buddha, height nearly about 52 meters. It is gilded with gold. It has a museum inside it. The view is so awesome and clear from there. U can see the beauty of Bhutan from there. It is worth visiting it. the architecture is new, so it is not yet completed fully. Construction is going on.

The gigantic Buddha statue located on mountain top in Thimphu. The huge statue can be seen from many points of Thimphu city. The full statue made of bronze and gilded gold. There is a beautiful temple inside the base of the giant statute which houses more than one hundred thousand small Buddha statutes. There are also few golden statues surrounding the big statue. There is a big open plaza in front of the statue. The beautiful Thimphu city can be observed from this view point.

The largest Buddha statue in Bhutan. A very sacred and significant site to go if you ever visit Thimphu. It stands on 125000 small Buddha's which is just awesome. It's built in bronze and glided in gold. For the photographer's, the best time to visit is when sun rays are slanting on this Rupa.

A must visit place. The exterior looks like a barren land in between hills as it full of concrete, but on the inside, the temple is beautiful. We are not allowed to click pictures inside, but i like it that way. Pictures cannot show the beauty inside.

The reason i reduced one star is that there is too much of concrete there. No trees around the temple. I feel temples must have trees around. This one place seemed against the Bhutanese love for nature. Also there is no shade around. So either you be inside the temple or you will start sweating soon!

But excluding this gripe of mine about nature, this is one beautiful place. We went up by car, but came down via steps.

As it is on a hill, the surrounding view is also good.

What a majestic sight of one of the tallest Buddha's in the world. The hall below Buddha statue is beautiful, serene and totally divine. I like the placement of statues around the complex.

Being the tallest statue (51.5m) in Bhutan. It houses 100,000 8 inch tall and 25,000 12 inch tall statues within the Buddha Dordenma statue.
    The interior work is exquisite.
Must visit site if in Thimphu.

Aesthetically great A landmark visible from some parts of the city.
But considering nature and the environment, doesn't go down well to me. Huge usage of concrete, cutting off of a big hilly area and concreting it up, not appealing enough to me.

Oct 2017. As of now, the world’s largest sitting bronze Buddha statute. Entirely sponsored and built by foreigners. There was a 3 months recitation of the Buddhist scriptures when was there. It was beautiful inside with a rendition of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Very ritual and peaceful place. They were preserving ancient literature when we have visited. It's surrounding is also very scenic. You can go there by car and come down by walking down 167 steps. Only restriction is.. you can not wear hat or cap or shorts. Otherwise boots , sunglasses, cameras etc are allowed. No entry fees. One must visit this place.

    Its a really peaceful place
    The heights of bhutan
It is the worlds biggest sitting Buddha's statue.
At all the corners 9 fairies or lady statues are situated.
And if you come in rainy season , u will really enjoy it.
    Total 36 fairies are here.
You can see the view of city .
    Its really awesome.
Now stairs and other construction work is going on . So u can go by the back door.
Very easy to reach at that place . At each corner there is a symbolic animals sclupture made on wall.
    These are
    Elephant
    Peacock
    Horse
And a half human and half bird. Like person.
I also added the back entrance gate pic.

An enormous gold Buddha statue, with fantastic views over the fertile Thimphu valley. Still currently under construction in some parts but nearing completion and certainly worth a visit to this auspicious site.
