Traveller's rest is one of my family's long time favorite restaurants for Bahamian food. Below I include my rating scale and explain why I gave this illustrious restaurant such a high rating.
#1 Location
The location is not very ideal, however, for travelers coming in from the airport it is a great option as it only takes about 5 minutes to get to.
#2 Service
I recently returned to this restaurant with my wife after 5 years of not having the opportunity to do so. And was greeted to just one server. The restaurant seemed relatively busy as there were a few other couples out to enjoy the flair. Not once during my time did I feel as though I wasn't being tended to correctly. The server was kind, apologetic when I asked for a bottle of sweet wine, and overall very caring. Only after my meal when I was gearing to leave a tip did he inform me that he was the owner and that his servers had called in sick for the day. I was surprised by this because service was timely.
#3 Atmosphere
The atmosphere at this restaurant is brilliant. Bahamian tunes are played at a mellow volume and the tables face the beach on the opposite side of the road. My wife and I loved it!
#4 food quality
The food was great. There's no other way to put it than that. My wife fell in love with the Conch fritters at the restaurant. Definitely worth a try. The cracked conch she ordered was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. Kudos.
#5 pricing
Pricing is a bit on the high side as with most restaurants in nassau. I found that it was much cheaper than most upscale locales, as I only spent $37 and was able to fill both myself and my wife sufficiently.
To conclude I highly suggest this restaurant, if not for anything other than the great service and great food.
Beautiful view in the outdoor section.
I had the Lobster tail and wings. It was delicious, best food I had the week I was in the Bahamas.
The service was phenomenal.
I will definitely be back next time I am in Nassau.
Great food, beautiful scenery, very sociable professional staff.
Great tasting food. Affordable prices
One of my favorite Bahamian Restaurants. Frequent patron and supporter of locally own and operated Bahamian business. Good food and value for price. Good view of the beach. Good drinks of your choice! Hours could be more accommodating.
We were little hesitant after reading the reviews but glad that we went ahead and tried it. They have a great oceanview, we sat outside and watched sunset while having dinner. Food was delicious -we had conch fritters, rice n beans and fried fish!, staff were friendly and welcoming, provided excellent service! Highly recommended for family, couple and friends.!!!
As Traveller's rest, this was a great informal spot. We have not had the opportunity to visit since the new owners have taken over. Have heard good things and looking forward to trying it.
Love the food 😍😍
Gorgeous location with breathtaking view that sits almost directly on the ocean.
As with almost everywhere I've been in the Bahamas, food & service can be hit or miss with a tendency to land on the miss side.
First of all, if you are coming to the Bahamas for gourmet food do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
The Bahamas in my mind is more about the ocean than anything else but with that said,
If you are looking for decent Bahamian style comfort foods than by all means give this place a shot.
This place was a staple Bahamian restaurant. It went under new management and was horrible and shortly went out of business. It's now under new management again and seems to be back to where it was. My meal was good. Unhealthy but good. There is indoor and out door seating and they have a bar inside. Glad to see this place has bounced back.
There is also a great coffee shop next to it.
The place is dirty, and smells. Customer service is nonexistent
I love the lunch &Dinner menu esp the fried bahamain Snapper fish.
