About

The Landing, built in 1800, is one of the oldest buildings in Dunmore Town, the original capital of the Bahamas. The main structure was home to the family of the first Bahamian doctor, Thomas W. Johnson.

In 1995, The Landing was purchased by Tracy Barry and her mother, Brenda Barry. After Hurricane Floyd in 1999, the buildings were completely renovated. Interiors were designed by India Hicks. Twelve rooms are elegantly presented in crisp white linens and dark, antique woods. In 2001, Conde Nast Traveller listed The Landing among the top 25 new hotels in the World. In 2003, Harpers and Queen magazine included The Landing in their list of "The top 150 places on Earth"

The restaurant has a distinct "Sydney" flavor, a style of cuisine that is renowned for its classic bases, emphasis on fresh ingredients and its wonderfully simple combination ethnic of flavors. The menu features fresh seafood from local fisherman, organic greens from Jimmy Higgs on near-by island Eleuthera, and Om Grown Greens in Abaco.

The Wine list features an array of fine wines from Australia, New Zealand, France and California. Carefully selected port, scotch, and digestifs fill the bar. Guests also enjoy eclectic rum drinks and martinis in our intimate bar which include our signature Afro Head rum, Afro head vodka and Afro Head Coffee.

The Landing has a lovely line of Afro Head merchandise; t-shirts, hoodies, key chains, hats, and popsockets! Be sure to pick up a copy of our new book, released in 2017, Island Rhythm , a glorious coffee table book photographed by Cookie Kinkead.
