    Beautiful!
The mangroves in the creek made for a challenging first-attempt at tandem kayaking, but the scenery was beautiful.
The beach was extraordinarily beautiful early in the morning. We had a light lunch with our tour and then took a short walk on the wooden platforms provided across the water.
We saw many beautiful birds & fish.

There are many wonderful places to see in the Bahamas, but don’t rush by Grand Bahamas before you visit the Lucaya National Park! It’s a true gem with something to interest everyone.

After pulling into the parking lot, we were greeted by a park ranger that collected our fee ($5 each) and then gave us a maps of this 40 acre park. He explained how to best explore the many sites by use of the well maintained walking trails.

We stared first exploring the north side loop trail. There are also many educational signs along the way for a slow paced self guided tour.

Our first stop was the caves. You do have to descend a ladder down into the bottom of this magical place. The bottom is filled with clear fresh water that supports a small school of fish. We saw scuba divers coming back from a tour of the darker reaches of this underground wonderland. We did see colonies of bats, but don’t worry, they will not bother you.

The second part of the tour is the trails through the mangroves to the beach. These are on elevated walkway where you gets to see the plants and wildlife that inhabit this special environment.

The best part is seeing the famous Gold Rock Beach. It’s an long undeveloped stretch of beautiful white sand and crystal clear water. If it looks for familiar, you may have seen in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Be sure to pack a lunch and spend the day swimming and snorkeling in a true paradise setting.

This is the national Park on Grand Bahamas Island. Worth seeing for the underwater caves and the walk to the beach. The beach is secluded and nature at its best. You may even get as chance to drink from a fresh coconut. This was a great stop learning about the island.

It was just beautiful, peaceful, the kayaking guide was really great, and I just can't wait to go back. The ocean water was a little too chilly in February to go swimming, but just gorgeous. I'd highly recommend to anyone to visit this place.

This park is a must see. On one side of the road is the most beautiful beach. Go at low tide for a special treat--you can walk out about 70 yards. It's awesome. Enjoy the driftwood and the sandy stretch of beach where scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed. On the other side of the road, check out Ben's cave, partially under water. It's an unusual sight and very peaceful. Just beautiful.

Had a short walk through the park and mangroves. Enjoyed seeing the two small caves. Then we stayed at their gold sand beach for a few hours and loved it there. A huge sand bar to walk on. Few people and lots of wildlife - crabs, birds.

What a beautiful natural place. The caves are fabulous, the mangroves are gorgeous, and the beach is to die for. All that for $5 per person! While the tours are nice, I recommend you find a local to take you and do a private tour (our tour for 6 people for an all day tour was $125).

NOTE: This is not the location of the very wonderful Lucayan National Park, it is much further West. There are lots of interesting things to see in High Rock, but not the park. If you do visit the park, try to time your visit to arrive at low tide and be certain to walk through the mangroves and visit the miles of white sand!
