Friendly staff did not make up for a few major failings: most exhibits lack any signage (what animal is this? who knows!), and the grounds are fairly overgrown and hard to navigate (again, very few signs pointing the way). Paths are not very stroller-friendly, so be warned. Snack shack has hot dogs and microwave pizza - not recommended as a lunch stop.
Awesome experience! You'll get to the Bahamas national bird (flamingo) and tree (lignum vitae). The peacocks and iguanas and many more. This was my first visit 🙈 but I'll definitely be back!
I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. Nassau 's Ardastra Gardens is impressive. I saw many rare animals and birds, many species of peacocks and took many pictures of all of them. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. I recorded one of the creatures that sounded like a crying baby. It was hilarious.
Cool little zoo that has some animals that walk around with you and there is an area you can feed some birds. Not only is there a lot of animals to see but there is different types of plants as well. The staff is excellent and knowledgeable and will answer questions you might have.
Loved all the animals! Flamingo March was really cool. Staff were really friendly, and didn't mind taking extra time to tell us about the animals personalities. Don't trust the geese!
It's a neat zoo with flamingo show and you get to feed some birds. It's a bit difficult to locate as it's tucked away from the main road. The size isn't that big and you can go through it in about 2 hours leisurely. It's also shaded in the zoo so you can have a cooler visit even in the hottest day
The staff are amazing and quite knowledgeable. The ‘marching’ flamingo show was truly adorable! This is a perfect afternoon activity for all ages. Definitely try the soursop ice cream bar as a locally produced, organic treat!!
I didn't expect to like this as much as we did. My family was enthralled with the different types of birds, and seeing flamingos out in the walkways was very cool. The flamingo march was sweet but the highlight was feeding the lorikeet. Our kids (and my mother) giggled and smiled as the birds flew to them and ate apple slices out of our hands. The staff was wonderful and interactive, helping with questions and providing insight. It's really more of an aviary than a zoo, but we enjoyed it a lot. We would definitely come back here if we're in Nassau again.
Loved visiting the gardens while on a cruise through Nassau. The flamingos and parrots were cool, loved being in the parrot house and holding and feeding them. The animals looked well taken care of. Overall good experience.
Looks very nice. The money I spent was worth it for me and the family to get out and do some animal spotting. Glad I came here, its recommended.
Tranquil, a true escape from the humdrum of the city. Just enjoy the sounds of nature and the beautiful animals
Nice but small place
If you have chance to come during feeding it is the best moment. You can participate in the feeding inside the cage so it’s very funny for children’s and adults as well.
The animals looked like they were well taken care of and they have a decent amount to see. For the money we soent, i thought there could have been more though. Really liked the parrot feeding and flamenco show. We were there at the end of the day so we didn't get as much time there as we wanted.
A very well kept zoo with some animals not found in other places.
Compared to American zoos this is pretty weak. Is the only zoo in the Bahamas, or so they said. The animals aren't too diverse and some of the walking paths aren't too welcoming. The bird feeding was fun and the flamingo show was entertaining if not absurd.
Not really many different types of animals. There is the ability to feed the birds apples which I thought was neat. Flamingos also roam free, they're fairly docile. Other than that, there's nothing special. Its just an overall mediocre zoo.
Very neat little place with friendly staff and some beautiful animals. It's decently cheap to get in too
Nice flamingo shows and you can feed the parrots. The perch on your arm and eat apple slices right out of your hand. It is nice and peaceful.
It has a nice atmosphere. There was a lemur who looked very sick and on his way out, made me wonder how well are they taking care of those animals. Need more attractions and more to do there as well. The flamingo show was very nice though. Wear lots of sunscreen as well. Beware of mosquitos too
The bird feeding and the flamingos show werr a lot of fun. The bird feeding at 130 made the zoo worth the trip.
This is the only zoo in the Bahamas perfect place to take the kids. One should take a guided tour it's very educational and informative. The staff is very friendly and helpful
Great place for kids, there was a lot of cages that were under construction due to the hurricane. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Was a fun time to wander around and look at the different birds and animals.
There is not much there but what is there is fun especially if you have children. It's fun to get up close to the flamingos and to feed the parrots. Lots of good photo opportunities
This is an excellent spot for kids and adults of all ages. I can't say enough about the amazing staff here, so incredibly warm and friendly. There are vendors selling various food to hand feed the well taken care of animals. I highly recommend.
I am a nature person and loved this place. The staff was very understanding and welcoming. I arranged to spend the afternoon here. My flight was delayed and got to Nassau late in the afternoon. I went the next day with my voucher and explained my situation. No questions asked, the lady at the cashier allowed me in and i had a great time. There weren't too many people when I was here, so one of the staff members was showing me the place around and gave me information on how they maintain this place and feed animals. I got to feed birds and I got to see the flamingo show in the afternoon. Overall, even though this place is not very big, I enjoy their exhibitions and their shows. I recommend for nature people and families. The kids will enjoy the flamingo show.
