  amazing experience! All the staff are nice and patient. Most know English. There is a friendly atmosphere and always everyone is together. We had already taken us on a trip to the falls. Everyone here is nice. The place is very clean and beautiful. Feels safe compared to the rumors that it is dangerous here. Highly recommend.

  Brought a small group of MBA students and our prof (who is 75 yrs old) from Canada to spend some time with Adam. He gave us a glimpse into the fabric of social innovation and local community development. Adam and his team are doing some great work and the views on the terrace are simply inspiring. Our only regret was not having enough time to stay a few nights there, I would strongly encourage guests to stay for a week or more to get a stronger sense of the community. Adam thanks for being so generous with your time and for improving our students thinking.

  This place has perhaps the best views in Rio De Janeiro of any accommodation options.
  Superb vistas across the bay to the iconic beaches and harbour, what a place to watch the sun come up! (Sunset with a cold beer on the top deck is recommended as well).
  
  Equally awesome to the views is the Favela of Vidigal which this hostel is smack in the middle of.
  This town is very cool, friendly people, great vibe. Definitely a sense of community going on, as safe a location as any in Brazil I have visited.
  Make sure you check out Manuel’s bar just down the hill from the hostel, fantastic atmosphere and the host is one of the most gracious men you’ll ever meet.
  Fenix Sushi bar is not to be missed either, great food.
  Make sure you get Adam to organize a tour of the Favela and a trek up the hill to watch the sunrise with local guide Russo (probably wrong spelling) ……… . this guy is a great host and you’ll get a good old tour around the Favela and a taste of what’s going on.
  Also check out Vidigal beach down the bottom of the hill, a great little local secret, awesome spot for a swim.
  
  Hostel Favela Experience has a great point of difference from a lot of other hostels I have stayed at over the years - Adam is trying really hard to ensure his business is not just providing good value accommodation but is also contributing financially back to the community it gets it’s character and vibe from, Vidigal.
  The hostel is doing a great job of utilizing local people in its tours and operations. I believe he is on the right track and it’s great to stay with a team that is dedicated to giving a bit back to it’s roots and is also excellent at facilitating an enjoyable and different perspective on an important part of the Brazil experience.

  Great experience! Although the hostel is located in a favela, I felt very safe. The entire staff was extremely helpful and kind. The terrace featured beautiful views of the city. Highly recommend staying with adam at favela experience
