  A very nice resort. Riviera de Sao Lourenco in the center (centro) has a small mall complete with a few good places to eat and treats for the kids. A pharmacy, book store and shops for clothes and souvenirs. A supermarket and ATM's outside. A children's play park in the mall, too.
  Ilha da Madeira has everything! We spent a lot of time after sunset on the veranda in our apartment. The beach is unbelievable! The water is safe and not too rough (like Rio). Although we didn't have a rent a car (took a taxi from Guaralhos Int'l) the last time we visited, taking the bus from the resort was easy to Bertioga It has a lot of places to see and a lot of shops. We are going again in a few months but, renting a car this time. So much to see up in the mountains or beaches along the coast!
