Since our first visit to Rio de Janeiro, we have been dreaming of flying over the world-famous beaches and around the Christ the Redeemer statue—one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. At long last, that dream became a reality. Emille, “Mrs. Research,” throughly investigated the options, and found Helisight Tour to have the best reviews, service and prices. A sunset tour was of utmost importance for two photographers, so we made an inquiry about their availability without delay.

We connected with them immediately, as they were very responsive and attentive. They accommodated our sunset request, and securing a reservation was painless, as they have several deals. Packages start with the Carioca tour, which is five minutes in the air, and can last up to 60 minutes if you want to see the beaches, Christ Redeemer statue, Sugar Loaf Mountains (“Pão de Açúcar”), Two Brothers mountains (“Morro Dois Irmãos”), Niteroi and more.

We booked a 15-minute tour, and loved every minute of it! We highly recommend booking directly through them. When we arrived at the sight next to the lake (“lagoa”), we were greeted by very polite staff, who directed us to the VIP waiting room, featuring views of the lake and helipad, as well as Nespresso coffee, water, snacks and a private bathroom. They even locked the room during our flight, so that I could securely store my massive backpack.

It was the ultimate first helicopter ride! The pilot did a great job of giving us a little extra time and different views of the Christ the Redeemer statue, as the fog began to make his job more challenging. The perspective was perfect for videos and photos. It is for all of these reasons that we award the “NY See You Later Best of Rio de Janeiro 2018” honor to Helisight Tour.

A helicopter tour is a must in Rio and it will take your photos and videos to the next level.

Ruined the purpose of my trip. I went to Brazil for a wedding in another location and flew to Rio for 2 days to specifically to rent a helicopter to do photography from sine that's my hobby. I called ahead of time and they said they don't accept reservations and to just come in. We get there and there are 3 other people waiting for a tour and 2 of us, great! We can fly. They said they need at least 4 to launch. We wanted to do route 2 and the other 3 wanted to do route 5, which is triple the cost. I said I would be willing to pay for 1 of us to do the full price but that I couldn't afford both at double the cost. They refused to launch the tour. The other people didn't want to do the shorter route so we sat there for hours and hours and we finally left because it got dark and no one got to do a tour. So instead of them getting R$3,100 for a full helicopter of 5 people, they would rather not fly at all and let everyone go home unhappy. The next day, I drove down to another helicopter operator because Helisite wouldn't let me know if there were others waiting and I spent R$130 on a cab ride to get the other operator and then the airspace closed down so we couldn't get a tour with another operator.

Terrible business model. If you want to sit around on a couch waiting for a tour hoping that you have a 1 in 7 chance (they have 7 tour routes) that other people want to do the same tour route as you, go for it. You'll spend your time in Rio sitting on a chair watching the other helicopter tour company (Rio Helicopters) fly by you. We saw over 9 helicopters pass us while we waited. Wasted hundreds going to Rio for this and their greedy model didn't allow it.

Great helicopter tour service in Rio having two pads of their own to start your tour. (lagoa and pao de Azucar)
But the price is quite high and you are not guranteed of a ride if you are having a group of less than 3 persons. In such case you will need to pay for the extra vacant seat.

Came here a few times with a friend to try and take a tour, but you need 3 people. They won't fly with 2, unless you buy all the empty seats. They don't take apts, so you can't schedule anything for someone else who might wanna take a tour. And anyone who does show up, will have to purchase the same tour as you. Very inefficient way to run a business. I rather have 2 guaranteed people with 1500R$ than 0 people and 0R$

Recommend the Heli tour over Rio's amazing sky. Witness Christ the redeemer from top around and overlook the amazing beaches of Rio and more.

Flying over a city is always a 5-stars experience and Helisight deserves them but the prices are high compared to others cities like New York so I'll only give them 4 stars. Also because the peoples at the front desk where not really friendly.

But if you can afford it, do it, Rio is amazing from the top !
