Like an oasis, Reserva Cultural is a breath of fresh air in the middle of São Paulo. It has a cafè, a bistrô (you will be able to look at the avenue from there, but since the Reserva is below street level, your view will be a bit different), a bookstore and a bakery, plus the movie theatre with european and niche movies.

I spent around one hour there, especially on the cafè, where I ordered what seems to be their main dish, the tartine. Mine was the R$16 one, with goat cheese and tomato, but they had a R$12. I also had a cappuccino and small chocolate pie, that was pretty good.

Overall, I don't think this place is all that expensive for the size of the dishes and for the location. If you decide to have lunch at the bistrô you will spend a bit, but I think it is worth to go there at least once in you trip.

Avenida Paulista and Rua Augusta have lots of independant cinemas to choose from, but this is my favorite!

Great for watching art movies. Has a nice coffee shop and a little bookshop. Attracts college students, artists and older people.

Good and cozy place. There are seats outside the movie rooms, a restaurant, a cafe, a movie store and restrooms. The seats are not pre-defined, so you need to stay in line before the movie to get a good seat.

Alternative and independent movies you can watch here. The bar and Cafe is cozy and has a glass facade with view for and from Paulista avenue.
Prices a bit high for food and the place would look better after some redecoration.

Great place to escape the hustle of Sao Paulo. Art house English language films aplenty. Other art and cultural things as well. Cafe and Bar on site. Popcorn from vendor outside.

Good place, I recommended to eat grape baguette when watching movies. There have good alternative and cult movies. They have half ticket for students and elders.

Why are tickets so costly?? Anyway, one of the best movie selections for independent-minded moviegoers. Also, great café and views of Paulista from above and in a great piece of architectural heritage.

Nice, cozy, alternative movie cinema. Probably the best in town for catching the new Goddard or Polanski. Has a pretty snack place inside, but is prohibitively expensive for what they offer. Movie tickets are affordable. If you are planning to catch a movie during "prime time", try to buy online, to avoid lines. Enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
