The BananaZ Hostel is nicely located in Lappa, nice bars are around. We booked a private room in the hostel. The room is small and dark. The bed squeezes with every movement and the mattress was so dirty! I never saw a dirty mattress like it was on this bed!! It was disgusting! Also the pillowcases were too small for the pecky pillow, so somehow you slept right on it. The next morning we were looking forward to the included breakfast. However, we had to realize that there was only half a roll left. Upon request, if there was still bread we received a simple "NO!" as an answer. Our friend, who had breakfast earlier, reported that she had bread, but nothing to put on.
When we wanted to check-out the guy said that we should pay for our food and drinks from the previous evening, which we had already paid in the evening. After some discussion, he finally let us go and said: "I'll let you go first, but if that's not true I'll find you".
All in one - not a nice stay. There are many better Hostels in Rio!response / report this review -

Going to Bananaz Hostel was the best decision for us. We were 3 girls wanting to get to know rio But we also got to know the best people so we left this Place with a lot more beautiful experiences than we expected. After a few days the hostel wasn’t only our accommodation it was our home. The hosts and the guests are a gathering of people you feel comfortable with. After dinner which is so good btw you either go out with almost everyone from the hostel or hang out together jamming and talking
Besides having breakfast dinner and a comfortable bed the atmosphere at this hostel is not comparable to other places.

Awesome hostel! They have a communal dinner which is excellent, you'll never leave the table hungry, dissatisfied or without meeting a new friend! The staff are even better, especially Yvonne. Answered all my questions and went out of her way even when it wasn't her day to work - Thank you, you're the best!

Pros: buena ubicación en el centro. Dan cena todos los dÃas.
Cons: La habitación que me tocó estaba muy sucia. Nunca limpiaron en los dÃas que estuve. Los baños eran pocos para la cantidad de gente que aloja el lugar asà que también estaban siempre sucios. A la noche ponÃan música muy fuerte y no se podÃa descansar. Además, los aires acondicionados no enfriaba bien y hacÃa mucho calor esos dÃas.response / report this review -

Encanto, carisma y siempre una feliz bienvenida. Se hace imposible salir de ahà sin amigos .. Ideal para divertirse y disfrutar de las mejores noches de Lapa!

Boa localização, muitos pubs e bares pertos. Hostel bem limpo e organizado. Banheiros apesar de serem de uso comum para todos os hóspedes são individuais.

It's a cool Hostel. It includes a free dinner which is pretty cool. Nice people and really laid back. Don't expect to sleep too much though.
