This place is all about cachaca. I saw some comments below giving low ratings for food etc. Well, if I go to a place like this I know that it’s all about having a drink, enjoying the atmosphere and meeting some locals. Don’t expect high end food, have some shots instead :)

You should pop in if you are in Santa Teresa. The interior is beautiful. And I liked the bolinhos. It is quite popular among both tourists and local so it can get really crowded.

I had an incredible caipirinha here! One of the best I've had at a bar. They have a huge cachaça list and have a very traditional and authentic atmosphere. I'll be back.

Probably my favourite bar in Rio. The beautiful old building had been nicely looked after, with many of the original fittings and furnishings still in place. The bolinhos mistos are amazing. Drink the icy cold beers out on the sidewalk and don't forget to order the batida gengibre. Note: most people know this place as 'Bar do Gomes' despite the owner's best efforts!

Love this place! We stayed in Santa Teresa for 2 weeks and this became our 'local'. Lovely bar with friendly attentive staff, a great atmosphere and killer G&Ts. Will definitely be visiting again when I am back in Rio.
