We bought the tickets and waited 3 hours, the attention was not good to take the taquesi transport, otherwise the excellent toilet service, the very efficient permit for minors, perhaps to other places to travel will be more efficient.

Terminal provisional Minasa - it is an improvised place, without much order - daily departures to several localities of Los Yungas: Coroico, Caranavi, Coripata, Chulumani, departures and prices according to supply and demand

If you’re expecting a regulated, predictable travel experience then don’t come here - actually, don’t come to Bolivia at all. But I will assume that you’re open minded and adventurous if you want to go to the Yungas in the first place.

There are over a dozen different bus companies operating out of here, each with their own ticket windows, no posted schedules, unclear routes and destinations, and nobody speaks English. I’m sure you COULD manage to get a ticket to your destination on a “real” bus, and eventually you’d get there. But what’s the fun in that?

Bolivians are very entrepreneurial, and they know that this place confuses tourists. So as I was wandering around, looking for the bus to Coroico, a young man approached me. He was carrying a sign that said “Coroico”, and indicated I should follow him. He quoted 30 Bolivianos (USD $4), which sounded quite reasonable.

I thought he was a ticket agent, but instead we arrived at beat up old Land Rover or something of the sort, with a few other passengers milling about: an indigenous woman with her baby on her back, a beautiful Afro-Bolivian woman, a couple of dudes one of who spoke good English, etc

He took my money, loaded my luggage (NOT on the roof, thank God), and gathered the other passengers. And we are leaving right now!

The guidebook says that the large buses take 3 hours but they use the more comfortable road, and minibuses take 2.5 hours because they use part of the old “Death Road” (the worst part finally got fixed, it is said). I have a feeling this guy will do it in even less time, given the quality of the vehicle vs a minibus.

I get to ride shotgun! Yay! Photography opportunities. And if we end up going off a 3000ft cliff, well, that’s not the fault of the bus terminal! Hahahahaha.
