Historic place and politic heart of the country. The buildings around (amazing examples of neoclassical architecture) include the Government Palace, Parliament, Museum of Military History and the main catholic church in the city Cathedral Basilica de Nuestra Señora de La Paz
It is at walking distance from most museums, main theaters and historical places like Ethnography Museum, National Arts Museum, Musical Instruments Museum, Casa de Murillo, Municipal Theater, Symphonic Orchestra Center.
The square itself exhibits beautiful white marble sculptures representing muses of greek mythology and a main statue of Pedro Domingo Murillo martyr of Bolivian independence.
An interesting characteristic is the kits of pigeons living around the square, they basically rule the place and paceños as well as visitors are happy to feed them and take pictures with them. There are bird food stalls and photografers who will print your photo on site

Dirty plaza, lots of pigeons. Nothing to write home about. Expected something great since it is surrounded by the presidential palace and the legislative branch.

Historic and emblematic symbol of La Paz, with a wide variety of art works and historic places. Surrounded by the current government entities and the cathedral which give it a colonial style. Easy to access and move from and to. It's a must see in La Paz.

An attractive square if you like historical sites. A lot of colonial architecture, with the cathedral and government buildings. There are guards standing outside the church which contains the saint's relics!
On one of the buildings there are still bullet holes from some shooting not long ago. A colourful place, with some vendors and many women dressed in the national costume. Unfortunately they are building a very tall tower to house the government offices just behind some beautiful colonial buildings so that really spoils that side of the square.

Pigeons everywhere! I loved it. There are some cool buildings and statues around as well, but the pigeons are definitely the main attraction.

Very old medium size historical square that is placed in the Km. 0 of La Paz. The space is totally connected to the political life of Bolivia. Surrounded by El Palacio de Gobierno (Presidential Palace), Congreso de Bolivia (National Congress of Bolivia) and La Catedral Metropolitana Nuestra Señora de La Paz (Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace). Comercial area where you can find small shoppings and a lot of fast food places near by.

Cool markets at great prices with still a little bargaining room. Some good food in the area too. Look for 1700. Best hidden restaurant in all of sth America!
