Poorly organized with minimal opening hours, but the tour itself is historicaly very interesting. Deserves better management.

At 40Bs each this was great value for the hour and a half tour. The lady at reception, Cinda was so friendly as we arrived on Friday for the tour which was not on due to the Easter parade but she gave us lots of information on other things to do around Potosi and told us to come back the following day which we did!! The museum has all the original equipment used to mint the coins, including the only remaining wooden silver press sent over by the Spanish (it works too!!). We saw the silver coins that were minted from the 1500 and the amount of effort and labour that went into making them. The building itself is stunning, with 5 courtyards and rooms with high stone ceilings and beautiful detail. One of the best museums in South America I have been to and definitely worth the time to visit! (it is cold in there so bring a jumper!)

One of the better museums I've been to in South America. Beautiful building! Be aware that you need to pay to have photo taking privileges though.

Fantastic tour here—one of the best in the country. The guides were funny and knowledgeable and offered real insights into the life and times of Potosi’s heyday, and the exhibits inside the Mint are maintained well so that visitors can understand the conditions of the workers and the historical progression of the minting over the centuries. Certainly a tour worth taking.

Excellent attraction in Potosi. The museum guides have great knowledge. They try to give as much information as possible about Bolivia Mint and its importance in Bolivia's history to the visitors.

Downsides: If you want to take photos or record any videos with your camera, be prepared to buy another ticket just to take photos or record inside the rooms of the museum.
Also, it was SO frustrating the amount of time they made us wait to start the guided visit around 40 minutes. The reason, the personnel said, was that there weren't enough guides available at that moment.

I'd give the place itself 4 stars but the English tour a 2 stars, so average a 3. Tour was rushed (tour guide didn't wait for all visitors to catch up before she started speaking) and only half the advertised time. Apparently the Spanish tour is better.

It is a must place to visit in Potosi if you want to understand the history of Potosi and the Cerro Rico. The ticket includes a guide tour and the explanation are enough to understand why Potosi was an important place for the Spanish empire.

Enjoyable experience. The museum is well laid out and set in a colonial atmosphere. Suitable for adults and kids. Makes it more fun if you go with a guide

Incredibly interesting, the tours are well explained and they not only say about the history of the coins and currency, etc, but say about the history of the city of Potosí, as well as some religious facts that are really interesting.
If you are going to visit Potosí, this is a must.

One of the best preserved antique mints in the world. Amazing to be able to see the transition from horse and cart to steam and eventually electricity. Also had an extensive coin collection on display during my visit. Well worth a look!
