Was ok. But pricey and took a while to get our meals. Tough to do on a lunch break.
Excellent restaurant. But very spicy food. Be sure to ask for less spicy than you would normally.
Good food and nice architecture of the house
Pretty neat place, the sweet chicken basil dish is phenomenal.
Maphrao On serves a variety of asian dishes from indian to thai. Lots of vegetables and nice ambiance, friendly staff with good english, and flavours were quite good. My partner and I looked after our health throughout South America, bottled water, the works, but the only time we got sick was after coming here two nights in a row. Disappointing, but perhaps to be expected because of the low traffic through the restaurant.
The food is incredible. They have a really nice place
This is the first time I will use the word "quaint" to describe a restaurant I've visited in Bolivia. The building itself is unique in its architecture, obviously built for something else, as there is a sign on the roof saying "Casa de los Pinos". But the owners have done a great job of making the interior homey, cozy, and yet authentic to the Thai theme. Delicious food, incredible selection and great service. A small but valuable detail was the waiter told us up front that two of the dishes on the menu were not available that night. (Oh, if only all restaurants in Bolivia did that!) In spite of those two missing items, there was a wonderful variety of choices. We'll be back!
Great Asian food and friendly owner
OUTSTANDING, world-class Thai cuisine, possibly the best in all of South America. How is it possible I am writing the first review, after this place has been in business 12 years? The ambience is spotless and gorgeous, with tasteful Asian decor and groovy electronic chill music in the background. The service is impeccable and extremely friendly. But put all that aside: THE FOOD IS OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD AMAZING. Granted, I had just traveled 24 hours on a bus from Chile without eating anything when I arrived for dinner around 11:30 pm, but I don't think this affected my judgement that much. First out was a few slices of fresh, oven-warm bread with two dips: a sweet Asian chutney-like one (apricot?), and a wonderfully HOT one with basil, oil, and very hot green chiles. Next, the tofu satay – it comes out with a flaming mini-grill to get them back to sizzling hot if you'd like, but there's no need: they were perfect, wonderfully roasted brochettes of tofu, carrot, and red pepper, rubbed with garlic and ginger (I presume), and served with the PERFECT peanut satay sauce, and what seemed to be a cold yogurt raita. I ordered extra peanut satay sauce, because it was so well-done. Next up, the excellent Pad Thai, served with large slices of lime, plenty of peanuts and green onion, generously wide rice noodles, and lots of fresh vegetables (plus tofu again for me) then for dessert, the decadently frozen coconut flan (less like a Latin American flan, perhaps more like a Thai coconut custard), and all perfectly accompanied by a Chuflay cocktail, which is Singani with ginger ale and lemon. The total was 128 Bolivianos, which is less than $20 US. If you love Asian food, GO. If you are a vegetarian, GO. If you are NOT a vegetarian, GO (there's plenty of meat on the menu). If you are a Michelin reviewer, it's time you check this place out. The chef knows what he is doing, and this restaurant didn't miss a single beat!
