Absolutely great experience to cook with Moi - the vegetarian dish "Papas a la Huancaina" was absolutely delicious and the whole background information we got was very interesting. also he could react very spontaneous to the special requirements of my girlfriend (no gluten, no milk, no pepper) during cooking although we forgot to mention this properly before! thanks again and keep up your good work man!
A must do activity when in Sucre! Moi has done an excellent job explaining about the local ingredients, including the plenty of potato and aji variations, as well as about facilitating a completely hands-on exercise making the stuffed potato balls. His teaching kitchen in well equipped (including the huge mortar stone), clean, and conveniently located close to the centro.
The best cooking experience in Sucre! The place is very clean, organised and well equipped. The cook, Moises explained not only the cooking steps but also the lifestyle and culture. Enjoyed doing the spicy sauce (ahi) in the authentic style (of stones). Also made and tasted the local liquor Singani wow. Overall very happy with the program. Thank you Moises and his nephew. Inspired by future plan! Recommended!
My partner and I loved this class! Moises gave us a great overview of all the ingredients, cooking techniques and gave us a lot of opportunity to get hands on. We made the sopa de mani with a group of 3 others. It was delicious! We also got to make a traditional Bolivian cocktail and were treated to a home made pudding for dessert. Great experience learning about Bolivian culture, history, and food!
La Boca was a fantastic class. We were in Sucre for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday and I was trying organise a special day for her. On Tripadvisor it’s pretty limited in Sucre finding activities that aren’t museums.. however I came across La Boca and got in touch with Moi via WhatsApp. He was on holiday but was arriving back the day of the birthday. He intended on having the day off to settle back home, however to help me out, he did the class for us, and it was just us three which made it very personal.
Moi was very hospitable and welcoming. He took his time to explain the ingredients, the different types and why they are important in Bolivian cuisine as well as sharing a lot of personal information which was very interesting. Then between us three he divided responsibilities and prepared the traditional dish of Sopa de Mani. The class was extremely enjoyable and my girlfriend was super happy with that portion of the day. The soup was delicious and a huge portion! So much so that for dinner that night we had to share a main we were so full.
Moi delivered an amazing service but is also such a genuine person who goes above and beyond to share his passion of cooking. I highly recommend people get in touch for a class - there’s a reason he has an overwhelming 5 star rating.
Moi is an excellent chef, very welcoming, and likes sharing his culture. I had wonderfull time and highly recommend his place!
Moi was very a friendly teacher. He explained a lot about the bolivian food and also about the other things of bolivia. We cooked mondongo chuqisaqueno, which was one of the best meal, I've ever had in bolivia.
Unfortunately my boyfriend got sick in advance. But Moi gave me all the left overs to bring to my boyfriend.
I recommend La boca de sapo very much!
Horrible place. Avoid!! Owner is the unfriendliest person we found on our trip. Kitchen was unhygienic and kept dirty. We didn't even use the kitchen during our stay because it was dirty. The owner is a control freak enforcing a 10 minute list of rules on arrival. We tried to be friendly and nice to him but apparently this was not possible, it seems he simply does not like foreigners.
I had pretty low expectations of this when we booked it as I expected Bolvian food to be simple and tasteless (whoops!) but we made a delicious meal, had great fun and thought the lovely couple running the school were a real pleasure to spend time with. Don't bother buying lunch in a restaurant, come here and cook your own. You'll be surprised and happy you did. And you go home with a great recipe.
A hidden gem! Take advantage of this rare opportunity to get a true taste of traditional Bolivian cuisine and take home something that will last you a lifetime. Moises is a great teacher and a fine young man. His place is a refreshing experience in a city where there are many 'tourist traps'.
Weiter so!
Me encantó demasiado !!! Gracias por todo !!
Me and my boyfriend did the Papas Rellenas class in December and enjoyed it so much. It took place in Moi's home so it was really relaxed but well organised and we learnt a lot. Moi is a great teacher! We cooked together listening to traditional Bolivian music and then ate the delicious food we made. It was also great practice of our Spanish! 2 hours really well spent. Would highly recommend!
Super! Moises è carinissimo e bravissimo e gentilissimo. Le papas rellenas sono venute alla grande. Passate tutti da Moi per una cooking class :)
We had a very cool and intersting evening with Moises in his house. We made delocious papas rellenas, had nice snacks and could practice our spanish during talks about Bolivia, Germany, music, sports and so on. Highly recommended! All the best for you, Moises!
