Skyport is a Bermudian special purpose company responsible for L.F. Wade International Airport’s operations, maintenance and commercial functions. These responsibilities have been taken on from the Department of Airport Operations (DAO) in 16 March 2017.

Skyport will also manage the delivery of the redevelopment project over a 30-year concession term. and will oversee the construction of a new terminal over the next 40 months. The new airport terminal is targeted for completion in 2020.


Skyport will:

* Modernise Bermuda’s airport infrastructure for staff and travellers

* Create a safer, more comfortable and pleasant passenger experience

* Improve retail and dining options at the airport

* Provide greater accessibility for physically challenged travellers

* Negotiate increased airlift and new airline routes to Bermuda

* Provide jobs for Bermudians now and over the long-term

Skyport is almost entirely staffed by Bermudians. Most of our employees have joined us from the DAO.

Skyport is overseen by the Bermuda Airport Authority, a regulating body established by the Government of Bermuda.

  Did you know safety is our top priority? Every worker on the airport redevelopment site must be kitted out in Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) everyday, which includes a safety vest, hard hat, protective eyewear, work boots, gloves, long pants and a short sleeve shirt. This is to minimize exposure to any potential workplace hazards that may cause serious injuries.

  This week’s Skyport Spotlight is Calvina Wade.

  Calvina is an Airport Traffic Officer for Bermuda Skyport. Her responsibilities include ensuring that parking regulations are upheld, assisting customers with any questions or queries, securing lost and found items and ensuring there is sufficient transportation for arriving residents and visitors to our beautiful island.

  Outside of work, Calvina enjoys the outdoors with gardening, beach cleanups, walking her dogs, spending time with her grandson Cameron and watching the sunrise and sunset.

  The team working hard at site of the airport redevelopment project recently passed the 250,000 man hour without a lost time incident. As safety is our first priority, this is a huge achievement! Congratulations to the team, which has a 70% Bermudian workforce.

  This week’s Skyport Spotlight is Chuck Santiago.

  Chuck is Skyport’s Assistant Aviation Security Officer. His responsibilities include assisting the Head of Aviation Security, creating Restricted Access Passes (RAP), monitoring the contracted security companies, and making sure they are carrying out their duties correctly, ordering parts and consumables for screening equipment and maintaining ICAO and ASSI standards at the airport.

  Outside of Skyport, Chuck, as a Christian loves helping those he comes into contact with. He enjoys teaching and sharing his knowledge whether it’s computers, tinting vehicles, martial arts and natural medicine.

  This week's Skyport Spotlight is Lonnie Bascome!

  Lonnie is the Air Operations Officer at Skyport. His responsibilities include airside activities such as review of military aircraft request, managing daily operational programs such as the airside driving program and working with Skyport’s airport stakeholders on special airfield projects.

  Outside of Skyport, Lonnie enjoys being on the water, flying as a private pilot and spending time with family.

  Skyport staff participated in a FOD (Foreign Object Debris) Walk today on the southern perimeter of the L.F. Wade International Airport. It was led by our Air Operations Officer Lonnie Bascome. Other airport stakeholders also participated as we work together to keep the airfield clean.

  This week's Skyport Spotlight is Afton Botelho.

  Afton is the Executive Assistant to the President at Skyport. Her duties include ensuring the President’s needs are met, arranging travel and accommodation, managing and scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, and assisting the entire Skyport team whenever she can. Afton is also the employee chair of the Safety Committee.

  Outside of Skyport Afton enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing video games and reading.

  This week's Skyport Spotlight is Brent Searle.

  Brent is a Systems Specialist at Skyport. His responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance of x-ray machines, fire systems, CCTV systems, door access and more. Brent also supports the entire maintenance team on an as needed basis. Outside of Skyport, Brent enjoys hanging out with friends and family, travelling, fishing and outdoor sports.
