I was at this Hotel for RIA (Rencontre Internationale d'Amitie) over the weekend. My stay there was very okay, the rooms were clean, the view was really wonderful. Apart from the receptionist the other staff were very friendly and helpful. My only problem was the food, it wasn't up to my Nigerian standard. So if you are going keep that in mind
This hotel is still a lot under construction but the pool is lovely, they have very nice food, they have beach surrounding the hotel which make it very cold in the night but it has a very beautiful environment
Hotel Diaspora is in Ouidah a tourist town, the hotel is clean, the rooms are very functional for back packers. Mys sisters and I chose here because it is close to all the tourist attraction spots, the hotel can also get you a tour guide or just google where you'd like to go and get a motor bike. There are several categories of rooms at the hotel to choose from and affordable, 13k, 16k, 20k and 36k ( a beach front bungalow). The exchange rate was 1 cepha to 1 naira, so the hotel also collected Nigerian naira. Make sure you change your money at the border when you arrive. Each meal was N5,000 or N5,000 cepha very tasty French cuisine, breakfast came with the room it was free. The hotel did not serve local food so the menu was limited. There is a pool with guess what? Salt water from the ocean instead of chlorine, should I say good concept or what? The beach front is close to the point of no return a UNESCO heritage site currently being renovated/revamped. There is also the point where the first missionaries came to Benin, there is a beautiful land mark made of the map of Benin and a cross. The snake temple is also thereyou will need to brush up on your Nigerian primary and secondary French to communicate. Google can be your friend so you find out the cost of taxi and your motorcycle rides, if not the locals will milk you for every Nigerian kobo you have. Close by is Casa del Papa and so many other vacation spots lining the beach front.
I didn’t actually stay here, but I came to look at rooms and this place wasn’t very nice and was way over priced for what you would get. The cheapest rooms at 13K were extremely questionable. The nicer rooms were okay, but way too expensive. The pool looks a lot better in the photos. It is quite old and tired now.
Barely decent experience. Chalets are really nice. Niche getaway experience.
No wifi in rooms. Service isn't optimized for non-English speaking guests. Management needs to curate a better experience for visitors. Signs and notices should be in English and French.
So nice. Near the ocean. Nice and friendly staff. Always helping. Strong Wi-Fi. Perfect environment. Relaxing. Close to tourist site.
Nice beachside hotel, accommodation is minimalist, good functioning air conditioners in the room. Room was clean with mosquito nets provided. No hot water from shower you have to request from the kitchen. Food was delicious average price 6000cfa per meal. Some staff understand English so communication wasn't difficult. Lovely place but needs more maintenance and proper utilization. The swimming pool was very salty.
Great place if you are on a budget. It has a pool and a beach close by. Food is great
If you're a budget traveller like me, this place would cover enough of your needs to keep you from complaining too loudly. In no particular order, here's my experience
The location is super, the swimming pool is great and the non complimentary i.e. a la carte cuisine I tried was palatable.
Besides the reception staff and a few others who were properly dour, I found the staff pleasant.
There must be a stone mason somewhere who's pretty proud of the pillows he supplied them :P
Nice place close to the beach beautiful rooms very cozy free wifi very good restaurant and nice staff
Nice rustic place. Food and water are a bit expensive. Come with your own bottles of water (lots). Food is very nice though. The Gratin Dauphinoise was fantastic on day 3 but average on day 5. The rooms are very basic, no hot water, no fridge no coffee maker. The sockets in the room are round, 2-pinned European styled sockets (see photos) so make sure you either come with your own extension box and adapter or you can buy one for between 400-800. TV has only French speaking stations but they also have a USB port. If you want a true getaway from it all then this is your ideal location. Brush up on your french if don't want to pull out your hair in frustration. Otherwise make sure Google Translate is your friend, wifi was fairly steady so that helped. Make sure you keep all your hotel receipts and that all your purchases are recorded, you'll need them during checkout. Hmm. what else? The swimming pool is clear and clean with the occasional sprinkle of wind-blown insects. The swimming pool water is salty/heavily chlorinated so no chance of anything unbecoming crawling up your crown jewels. Watch out for the chlorination periods because the attendants might not inform you and swimming in a freshly chlorinated pool is a stinger. The beach is perfect with tons of cute little crabs darting in and out of holes. Profitez de votre séjour!
Good place. Swimming pool clean and nice
Great cuisine with value for money bungalows however there is a need to improve the pillows
Very accommodating
Calme. Situé dans une ville historique au Benin. Service chaleureux. Restaurant impeccable. Je le recommande vivement
Service client pauvre, des coups de rénovations serait nécessaire, prix raisonnables, un service de navette serait idéal
Très beau cadre pour se ressourcer.
Calme et discret.
Rooms are very simple. There is no hot water. WiFi weak
Calm and cozy
