About

In Benin, there is a lack of access to affordable and effective products to manage menstrual hygiene. This inflicts school absenteeism of girls during their menstruation and unhygienic alternatives can cause severe infections. Our objective is to produce, promote and distribute cheap reusable sanitary pads made out of banana fibers, an unused byproducts of banana plantations that are omnipresent around the city of Parakou. Banana plantations are ubiquitous in the area and constitute an important economic activity in the region. The production and the distribution of the sanitary pads will be made as much as possible by locals. We want to hire and train workers with few qualifications who have difficulty finding a job. By providing them with a good and stable salary, we hope to have a significant impact on their quality of living.
