  We had a great experience at this traditional Bulgarian tavern and got to try the typical for the local cuisine Elena ham (see picture), which is also excellent with some eggs for breakfast.
  My favorite were the freshly picked forest porcini, simply sauteed with some butter and herbs but that is probably a seasonal treat only.
  Interestingly, the restaurant fails to capitalize on the beautiful view on the river, which you can see from the bathroom. Also strange is that the grey water from the sink drains directly in the river (see picture). Hopefully they're working on changing that; after all this area is marketed as an ecologically clean, protected region.
