Make sure you visit this place during the feeding time. So that you can see the big cats and lions close. Had a great view of those as I went around the feeding time slot at 4 pm.
No proper directions inside as you need to roam around and find all the animals

Too many empty cages but still much better than other I have seen. Obviously there is a work going on for improving the conditions of the animals.

Half of it looks like wwll ruins, the other half is rather modern and comparable with other European zoos. The outside of the less modern part I found very spacious for people and animals alike. But it seems a bit trist and the animals old and lonely.

Absolutely horrendous. Was so upset of the condition of the animals. Who can Iwrite to about this? It was cruel and inhumane. Filthy and the animals would be better off dead. Please someone do something about it. Is this Europe? No photos as I was too upset to take any and even visit all the animals.

Great variety of animals can be seen. Infrastructure is generaly good. Spread on wide area, the place is good for walks or even picnics (not allowed, but not forbidden). In the weekends and holidays is overcrowded and parking is almost impossible because it is free of charge. Tickets are at fair price of 5€ per adult and cheaper for students and children.

Some parts have been recently renovated wich makes it a more pleasant place for a walk plus it is probably the most affordable zoo in Europe. Can't beat it for the price

    Pros: Quite a big zoo.

Cons: Far from the best zoo I've visited, and I've been to quite a few around the world. Too much concrete and caged animals. Feeling sad for all of them.

Far from the best zoo I've ever visited. Too much concrete and caging situations. Sad animals.

A very large zoo with a lot of animals. In the winter they are most likely asleep in their cages. Nevertheless it was a great experience. Some cages may become bigger. The birds do not have any room to fly and the hippo seems really bored.

Could be a very good zoo but is poorly funded. You can see the animals well, though. Worth a trip, very inexpensive. Do it in the summer, though.

If you can get over the fact that these animals are in cages and are not living in the best of conditions, it's definitely worth a visit for selfish reasons because you will probably never have the opportunity to be that close to a lion or tiger in your lifetime. I visited twice and spent multiple hours in the lion and tiger enclosure because it was terrifying and fascinating. I watched them being fed and could hear the tiger tearing bones, it was quite surreal to comprehend how quickly something so close could kill a human. Anyway on a more positive note, the cost of the ticket is only 4 lev so I'd wholeheartedly recommend going just for the lions and tigers. I think the money also contributes to helping feed the animals. They have everything (bears, panthers, hippos, rhinos, elephants etc) so it's an especially good way of entertaining children.

Nice place to spend your free time. There is a lot of space for walking. It is very suitable for kids. They will enjoy the various animals. The only problem is that everything looks a bit old.
