I recently heard that a turkish company is in negotiation with government in order to operate.
Way too small airport for the second largest city in Bulgaria . Considering this airport pretty much has been used by most people in Southern Bulgaria . Government is trying to privatize it twice already for on 35 years lease but no takers . Sad . There is so much potential there . People are forced to drive all the way to Sofia to travel . So sad , so sad . come on Bulgarian New Prime Minister Do some good to people in Plovdiv . They need new bigger airiport with a nice hotel and parking and more destinations !! Italy , Germany , Spain , U.K. Greece . come on invest 100milion it will make money !! People need it pretty bad ?? Thank you .
Very nice airport, although it´s quite small. This is understandable having in mind that there are just few flights a week. After the renovation it´s very plesant. Check-ins are realy quick. Very little amount of stores and coffee shops, but this is not a big problem. Consider it a way to save some money. :)
Operates just a few flights per week, therefore ground services are fast enough, except when some of the staff that is trying to play bossy. Don't count on very diverse shopping opportunities. Smoking area inside the terminal. Free WiFi would be definitely an advantage. Free parking for the first 15 minutes. Could be better.
The airport of Plovdiv is for sure the smallest I've seen up till now. At the moment it's only 5 arrivals and 5 departures each week. There's only a very little duty-free shop which was closed at the day we were flying. Besides this or maybe just because of it's small size the check-in is super quick. 10 minutes at the most. Also it's a quite new and clean building. Enjoy a fast check-in but don't count too much on a large shopping experience ;-)
