Very beautiful hike in the forest of rhe Vitosha mountain. This quiet monetary was the hiding place of a famous Bulgarian revolutionary, Vasil Levski, from 1880-1882 during the Ottoman yoke.

After a walk up from bus terminus you reach the monastery. There's a little wooden shelter to rest in. Look out for the 3 bells in the gardens. Couldn't enter main building but the small chapel us open.

Deep in the mountain with a convenient road reaching it this is one of the closest monasteries to Sofia. It's a really quiet and tranquil place as it was chosen by God to be there. The area could be crowded in the weekends, so if possible go there during the week.
