  Coming here was one of the most emotional things in my life. I feel so much sorrow and bitterness for all the victims of the Communist regime in general and the ones who served there - such as my spiritual teacher Vaklush Tolev who was imprisoned for more than 10 years here - very special years he had but that's another story. I was so surprised to understand that Belene Island Foundation organizes free private tours and tells the story of the place. It was absolutely breathtaking and magical to be there. The place itself has a very strange atmosphere. I hope and I know that some day there is going to be a big museum here and there stories will be told! I am ready to support such initiative!

  Luogo sacro, consacrato dalle lacrime e dal sangue di decine di migliaia di innocenti, vittime del regime totalitario comunista.
  Luogo di memoria, per non dimenticare, per onorare gli innocenti.
  Luogo di educazione alla libertà e alla dignità umana.
  Luogo di incontro, di preghiera, di perdono, di riconciliazione.
