Impressive place to visit, imagine that 17 million soldiers lost their lives during WW1 and here are 11.000 soldiers buried and 35.000 unknown graves.

The cemetery grounds were assigned to the UK in perpetuity by King Albert I of Belgium in recognition of the sacrifices made by the British Empire in defending and liberating Belgium during WWI.

The name "Tyne Cot" is said to come from the Northumberland Fusiliers seeing a resemblance between the German concrete pill boxes, and typical Tyneside workers' cottage – Tyne Cots

The visitors centre is awesome, very impressive. The view from the cemetery makes you feel really into Flanders Fields. Must do!
