  Founded in 1220, the Grand Commandery was the headquarter of the 12 bailiwicks controlled by the knights of the Teutonic Order. The castle, built in the 16th century, became the order's showpiece.

  Mooiste kasteel van Vlaanderen! Heel erg mooi begin van wandelingen of fietstochtjes, regelmatig evenementen (schots weekend, opera, vertelfestival) en tentoonstellingen.
