Vriendelijk personeel, de lasagne was ça va. Er zat veel peper in waardoor de echte smaak niet doorkwam wat ik jammer vond. Wel tof dat je als je het niet op krijgt je de overschot kan meenemen.

Heel vriendelijke uitbater die ons ondanks de volzette zaak toch nog een tafeltje aan de bar kon geven. Ook erg fijn dat er altijd een lekkere vegan lasagna te verkrijgen is :)

I am a Leuven-native but have been living in the US for a few years now. Every couple of years I make a trip home to visit friends and family. During that time I like to rediscover my hometown and see what's new. The Lasagnerie was definitely on my list since it made a few newspapers when it opened.

I was recommended to make a reservation, which turns out was a good tip since all tables did fill up later on the evening. The crowd was a mix between locals as well as students, which is to be expected with such a central location.

We were greeted in a friendly manner upon arrival and could pick a table to our liking either inside or out. The interior is cozy, yet modern with little accents left and right.

The menu itself of course features lasagnas, though there are quite a few different flavors to choose from such as meat, fish, veggies and a seasonal one (pumpkin and bacon for autumn). Each one has a wine pairing suggestion as well. All of us picked different flavors and we loved it.

Prices are very reasonable considering that you are in the city center and are receiving food made with fresh ingredients along with carefully selected wines.

Definitely worth a visit to get your Garfield on!

Nothing special here. It has a pretty small menu which is fine if everything tastes great. Not the case. The lasagnas are average at best. Underseasoned and generally bland tasting. I ordered the Vegy lasagna (for 13 euros I believe) and it came with a unexpected side salad completely slathered in creamy dressing. Honestly, the well-browned cheese on top was the best part of the meal. My partner had the Bolognese lasagna (10 euros) and it was similarly bland and was presented as just a big slab slapped on the plate. Every lasagna comes with a recommended wine paired to it, each glass is around 4 euros (or around 18 if you order a bottle) but for the amount of wine in the glass it's not worth it, maybe ordering a bottle is smarter. If you're interested in checking it out, best to make a reservation because seating is limited. Interesting concept, centrally located, but just very poorly executed.

Edit: I appreciate the sarcastically worded response from the owner, at least it shows he's reading reviews. I regret not taking photos. I wasn't upset at having a salad, just that it was overdressed in my opinion, I confess that I generally prefer less dressing than the average person, but this was really dripping. Dressing on the side would have been great. My order was actually the regular size vegetable lasagna, not king size. Only my partner's order was king size. Regarding the wine, it really did feel less than other establishments in Leuven and like I said, perhaps a bottle is a better deal. Since I don't go around with a measuring cup photographing wine portions, you can take my word for it or not. As for presentation, the photos from your site certainly set some expectations and though we all know reality never matches airbrushing, I apologize for expecting more.

TL;DR - below average food, owner blames customer for not having easily dazzled taste buds. Original rating: 2 stars, post-sarcasm rating: 1 star.

Lasagne ok but completely overpriced. Tiramisu was one really bland and not fresh. Don't recommend it.
