Long queues and high prices, but worth the trouble. Vegan cake and cupcakes as good as they get, excellent tea selection, busy but really cosy place in a historical building. I'm definitely going back for more.
Nice and cozy place where you can have a coffee and a choice of different cakes and cupcakes. If you are visiting Gent. Drop by the personnel is very nice too.
Delightful! Everything looks home-made and the summer tart (berries and cream in a shortbread-like flan case) was absolutely delicious. Even my husband, who usually chooses chocolaty items enjoyed it.
We were given a piece of cake to taste (blackcurrants and nut - I think) and that was wonderful too.
The coffee was full-bodied and it is possible to have a double Americana, which is unusual in Belgium.
We will be back. In fact, we haven't left yet - using the free WiFi.
Actually it is a very cozy place in a good location. The menu looks very nice and there is a good atmosphere. The staff was very friendly but somehow we had to wait for the breakfast (outside) forever.. Coffee doesn't taste good at all and was even cold. The portions are very small for these prices!
Brilliant little spot just off the main streets in Ghent.
The cakes are fabulous and the breakfast offering really different to the usual.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and really helpful. Definitely recommend this place for coffee and cake or a hearty breakfast.
The cakes are great. However, it is too warm inside during summer. Outside you have to sit under the sun. The service was too slow.
We had lemon cake, cheese cake, and white chocolate and speculas. All were great. The place is small and cosy. We waited just a couple of minutes. We would definitely come back.
Service was less than good and they had very few options for a Friday afternoon.
How fast things can go down
I used to come here regularly and the place had success. The service has never been great, sloopy and slow, but the cake made the difference. Well, this is not true anymore. The wait is still unbearable while the quality of went down. Ransom of success?
First of all: this place is hyped as the best bakery in Gent. So I was expecting something incredible. However, all the cakes, cupcakes and tarts I tried were not particularly good - all of them way too sweet! And the price is definitely not worth it. The decor and location are really good, however. Just don't go in expecting a reasonable price for an excellent pastry, as you'll get neither of those.
One of the most amazing breakfast places we have ever been!!! Cosy medieval environment with fresh pastries! Highly recommended!!!!!
I often come here for just a few pieces of pie. They always have a nice selection in store, staff is very friendly.
Sometimes it's a bit crowded though.
