Really good place to eat some afternoon or morning snacks and drink one of the the best beers in the world!
Also, the ice cream made from the beer itself is incredible!
Came here as a beer pilgrim, I think it’s worth it. The beer has so much hype that it is hard to judge objectively, but it was a great beer unlike anything offered from the other Trappist brewers. The service at the cafe is a little slow (even by EU standards), but friendly and helpful. We were able to pick up some 6 packs (€22.50) in the souvenir shop. At midday on a Monday, it was about 70% retirees and 30% beer pilgrims. The 12 is strong and after a couple over w hours I was feeling pretty toasty. Worth the trip for any beer lover, and even for interested tourists who want to try a very unique and exclusive beer. The case and abbey are located in the beautiful countryside of Belgium, surrounded by farmland.
The best (and only recognized) place to get a Westvleteren! Food choices are slim (grilled ham and cheese sandwiches with variations of those ingredients), but that's not the point. Prices are reasonable.
In this bistro you have access to one of Belgium's best beers, Westvleteren, only available (officially) in this local village. Limited menu selection. (Local specialties)
Everyone, including us, comes here on a pilgrimage for the beer (which didn't disappoint). I'm not a beer drinker, and I wanted food - but the menu is very limited. The cheese though was excellent! Highly recommend.
Everyone comes here for the beer but that's it. Nice kids play area but few highchairs available (and none clean!). Toilets were filthy and the staff in the shop were abrupt, unhelpful and quite rude.
The waiters for lunch couldn't have been more different. Were very helpful, friendly and extremely quick service.
The little gift shop is "OK", if somewhat overpriced. Cafe was always full and busy and tables were clean.
I didn't think they were particularly kids friendly as I had read before. There's no kids menu and wouldn't even provide a smaller portion.
Put some of the cheese in an old sock and leave it somewhere warm like the back seat of your car for the drive home. Then forget about it for a few weeks. Then remember you have some of the most potent stinky cheese on the planet in a sock, in your car, metamorphosing into it's true destiny. Ask someone you know if they'd like to try it..
Great beer and the food and service was awesome as well.
Serves the Trappist beer from the St sixtus abdij. Has an amazing outdoor space to sit and enjoy the beers. Has a little shop where you can buy merchandise.
A bar where you can drink one of the best beers in the world, in the historical hop region, Poperinge!
Most exlusive beer in the world, and definitly some of the best beers in the world. All three have a marvelous taste. The home made cheese and paté are good as well and go perfectly with the rich trapist flavours
Wow fast service and lovely food. Ordered drinks and light lunch for 2 ready in 4 minutes neatly brought and served at your table. First class service and first class food.
