Old ruins of the ancient castle of the city of Brussels. I expected more finds and a better organization.
Amazing attraction! Only €5 for students or people under 25. Totally worth it! We spent almost 1.5 hours here and it still wasn't enough. Explore the history of the Royal Palace by walking through the basement of it- an active archaeological site. There is free WiFi throughout the exhibition and a free audioguide that you can access with your phone (or you can rent a device from the reception), as shown in my one photo.
If you archaeology interests you then go and have a look at the excavations under Coudenberg Palace and discover the original fortifications underneath the palace that formed part of the original castle. After the tour there is a small museum with the background and history.
Historically and architecturally very interesting! The permanent and temporary exhibitions are great too!
Long live the Belgians ❤💙💚💛💜
This place made me feel like Indiana Jones without all the danger. It's an archeological dig site of the former royal palace. You get to learn a lot about what life was like at that time and about lots of dinner etiquette.
I was a bit skeptical at first but turned out to be an interesting experience. Descend into the depths of the previous royal palace, destroyed centuries ago.
While the underground part is rather small, the part about culinary practice in Renaissance Brussels was interesting.
Would recommend, especially because it's inexpensive.
Pretty fun to visit on an afternoon, this isn't the most exiting, but still worth it.
The underground ruins are a must see when in Brussels. Especially fun for kids. The belle vue part of the museum is a 3 star experience at best. Tickets can be bought separately.
