One of the best public university in Bangladesh. It is the oldest university of Bangladesh which was established on 1921.The university has 13 Faculties and 83 Departments. They have 23 residence halls for the students. Educational environment is good there. For centuries most of the major decisions of the country come from this university.

Dhaka University started its journey in July 1921.
a great master plan we find in 1912. that is its journey was well planned. May be many changes of masterplan can be found as of today. the early plan was worked professionally, but latter on there are lot of changes that made not done properly and professionally and that creates many issues, it is yet prime University among all in Bangladesh. we heard, once it was the Oxford in the east, great contribution to the nation we find in it. the main leading of our liberation started from here. if there were no unfair intentions nourishes for the gain of politics
it is the best one.
there were big bungalows in greens for teachers of the University at its start now taken for government residences.

increased demands made it somewhat feeling of unplanned and lost its environment of greenness health and recreational facilities.

it is yet a lovely one in Dhaka.

The same goes for Dhaka University in Bangladesh. A beautiful university. Every year many students apply to study in this university. Good meritorious students tend to take students in exams that may be admitted. This university is very beautiful with just reading. It also has many government facilities and student buses.

Dhaka University, probably Bangladesh's most important and first higher educational institutions.

One of the most famous and old universities of Dhaka, it is known as Dhaka Bishwabidyalay or Dhaka University. Every year hundred thousands of student sit for an exam to get into this university whereas the number of sits are below 1500 by which you can guess that it's very low. The core value of the university is even more because local companies and professional do prefer students of DU more rather than nominating any other job candidates.

University of Dhaka (Bengali: ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় [ɖʰaka biʃʃobiddalɔe̯], also known as Dhaka University or DU) is the oldest university in Bangladesh. Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah played a pioneering role in establishing the university in Dhaka donated 600 acres of land from his estate for this purpose.[4] On the first day of July 1921 the University of Dhaka opened its doors to students with Sir P.J. Hartog as the first Vice-Chancellor of the University in British Raj, it has made significant contributions to the modern history of Bangladesh.[5][6][7][8] After the Partition of India, it became the focal point of progressive and democratic movements in Pakistan. Its students and teachers played a central role in the rise of Bengali nationalism and the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

The university's distinguished alumni include Muhammad Yunus (winner 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, pioneer of Microcredit), Natyaguru Nurul Momen (Pioneer Theatre & Cultural Doyen; who was both an early student & teacher of DU), Muhammad Shahidullah (educator, philologist & linguist), Serajul Islam Choudhury (the country's leading public intellectual and writer), Rehman Sobhan (social democratic economist), Mohammad Ataul Karim (physicist), Abul Fateh (one of the founding fathers of South Asian diplomacy), Buddhadeb Bose (20th-century Bengali poet), and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (the founding father of Bangladesh). It also enjoyed associations with Satyendra Nath Bose, Vijayaraghavan, and Kazi Nazrul Islam.[9]

Today, it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 37,018 and a faculty of 1,992. It was identified by AsiaWeek as one of the top 100 universities in Asia.[10] However, since the 1990s, the university has suffered from intensely politicized, partisan, and violent campus politics promoted by Bangladesh's political parties.[11]

It is the largest Public University in Bangladesh. It has a great history since foundation in the fields of academic contribution to the country as well as making leadership to run the state and be part of all the influential movements in the history of this land.

Academic environment and standard has definitely fallen down for the number one University of the country which was once called the "Oxford of the East". Apart from those historical backgrounds, it is accommodated by a large campus within the city of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The campus is good looking considering the overcrowded city. Hostel and different facilities need to be improved with the extension of many departments and number of students.

Used to be referred to as the Oxford of the East. Now it's just a platform for political people. The level of education has decreased significantly. It's trying to cash in on its old fame.
The administration staffs need a thought make over if they want to restore to its former glory. It's good in a way for people who want to get into government jobs later as the links help them. However the students there sometimes need a reality check as they are disillusioned to be in the best institution on earth.

Known as 'Oxford of the East', Dhaka University is the biggest and oldest public university of the country. The standard of education has deteriorated a little though, but it still is prestigious to study in this university. Especially people from mid or low income range who cannot afford to send their kids to the private universities find it economical and affordable. A lot of scholars and gems were passed out from this glorious university. Even if you are visiting the city, it is always worth paying a visit to the university.
