A unique role in technical education
    Textile Institute, Dinajpur
In order to train the Bengalis on cotton yarn, the British government established nine divisions of Viving and 25 peripatetic schools from 1911 to 1929 in undivided India. Weaving schools were known as the District Weaving. Among them, presently Dinajpur Textile Institute was established in Khulna in 1926, which was shifted from Khulna to Dinajpur in the 1960-1961 academic year by the efforts of a single child of Dinajpur. In the former Dinajpur district children's school, a one-year Artisan course was taught. In 1980, the then government changed the name of the district school, named the District Textile Institute, and abolished a 1-year Artisan course and introduced a two-year certificate course. Later on, 3-year diploma-in-textile technology courses were introduced through a development project from the 1993-1994 academic year on the demand of the middle-class technicians in the textile industry, and the certificate courses were abolished. The number of seats approved for the course was 50. Gradually, the number of seats increased to 80. The course of the course is increased from 3 years to 4 years from 2001-2002 and the name of the course is changed to Diploma-in-Textile Engineering. Under the increasing demand of textile shifts, the government introduced diploma-in-textile engineering course under the second shift under a program from the 2004-2005 academic year, with 80 seats. The second shift was completed in the 2012-2013 academic year. Then the students were admitted in one shift till the academic year 2015-2016. Currently, students are being admitted to the first and second shift from current academic session. Whose seat is negligent - 240
