টাংগুয়ার হাওর বাংলাদেশের বৃহত্তম গ্রুপ জলমহালগুলোর অন্যতম। বাংলাদেশের উত্তর-পূর্ব প্রান্তেসুনামগঞ্জ জেলার ধর্মপাশা এবং তাহিরপুর উপজেলাস্থিত জীববৈচিত্রে সমৃদ্ধ মিঠা পানির এ হাওর বাংলাদেশের ২য় রামসার এলাকা। ভারতের মেঘালয়ের খাসিয়া, জৈন্তা পাহাড়ের পাদদেশে সারি সারি হিজল-করচ শোভিত, পাখিদের কলকাকলি মুখরিত টাংগুয়ার হাওর মাছ, পাখি এবং অন্যান্য জলজ প্রাণীর এক বিশাল অভয়াশ্রম। বর্তমানে মোট জলমহাল সংখ্যা ৫১টি এবং মোট আয়তন ৬,৯১২.২০ একর। তবে নলখাগড়া বন, হিজল করচ বনসহ বর্ষাকালে সমগ্র হাওরটির আয়তন দাড়ায় প্রায় ২০.০০০ একর। টাংগুয়ার হাওর প্রকৃতির অকৃপণ দানে সমৃদ্ধ। এ হাওর শুধু একটি জলমহাল বা মাছ প্রতিপালন, সংরক্ষণ ও আহরণেরই স্থান নয়। এটি একটি মাদার ফিশারী। হিজল করচের দৃষ্টি নন্দন সারি এ হাওরকে করেছে মোহনীয়। এ ছাড়াও নলখাগড়া, দুধিলতা, নীল শাপলা, পানিফল, শোলা, হেলঞ্চা, শতমূলি, শীতলপাটি, স্বর্ণলতা, বনতুলসী ইত্যাদি সহ দু’শ প্রজাতিরও বেশী গাছগাছালী রয়েছে এ প্রতিবেশ অঞ্চলে। জেলা প্রশাসনের কার্যকর ও টেকসই ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের ফলে বর্তমানে এ হাওরে রয়েছে ছোট বড় ১৪১ প্রজাতির ২০৮ প্রজাতির পাখি, ১ প্রজাতির উভচর প্রাণী, ৩৪ প্রজাতির সরীসৃপ, ৬ প্রজাতির কচ্ছপ, ৭ প্রজাতির গিরগিটি এবং ২১ প্রজাতির সাপ।নলখাগড়া বন বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে কয়েকগুণ। শীত মৌসুমে অতীতের সকল রেকর্ড ভেঙ্গে ব্যাপক পাখির আগমন ও অবস্থানে মুখরিত হয় টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর। বিলুপ্ত প্রায় প্যালাসেস ঈগল, বৃহদাকার গ্রে-কিংষ্টর্ক, শকুন এবং বিপুল সংখ্যক অতিথি পাখি ছিল টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওরের অবিস্মরণীয় দৃশ্য। স্থানীয় জাতের পাখি পানকৌড়ি, কালেম, বৈদর, ডাহুক নানা প্রকার বালিহাঁস, গাংচিল, বক, সারস প্রভৃতির সমাহারও বিস্ময়কর। সাধারণ হিসাবে বিগত শীত মৌসুমের প্রতিটিতে ২০/২৫ লক্ষ পাখি টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওরে ছিল বলে অনুমান করা হয়। কোন কোন স্থানে কিলোমিটারের বেশী এলাকা জুড়ে শুধু পাখিদের ভেসে থাকতে দেখা যায়। টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর মাছ-পাখী এবং উদ্ভিদের পরস্পর নির্ভরশীল এক অনন্য ইকোসিস্টেম। মাছের অভয়াশ্রম হিসাবে এর গুরুত্ব সবচেয়ে বেশী।

This is one of the most amazing place in Bangladesh. The beauty of Tanguar Haor changes season to season. To me Autumn is the best time to go here and you must have to check the lunar calendar to check the full moon time. Because the full moon is incredibly wondering there.

one of the most popular hawor in Bangladesh. people love to visit it by boat with friends and family.
but local people of this area are very poor. fishing is common profession here.but they are hospitable and friendly.

Excellence written all over it. Try to visit it in the rainy season , it's breathtaking at that time. The water is clean like swimming pool. The bordering hills will take you to another world while you are swimming on the water or floating on any thing like life jacket or tube :)

The place is amazing If you go in winter, there will be less water in the Haor, but more land. Lots of paths to have a trekking experience. You can also tent in the night. It's safe there. There are available boats which you can rent for the night inside the haor. They come with all modern amenities.

If you are seeking for the peace of mind and soul, Tanguar Haor is the place for you. The environment of this place is great. You must want to stay at night in this haor (specially in a moonlit night). This is also a great place for bird watchers.

This is a place of natural beauty surround by water. The view from the middle of the lake is amazing. This is a very enjoyable place to visit with group. If any one want to visit this natural beauty need 8-10 people group and have to hire a boat ⛵ for day long. The view of the hill from indian border side is also charming.

This is one of the best boat trip I have ever been to around the world. THERE IS WATER EVERYWHERE AND JUST WONDERFUL TO SEE. THE MIGRATORY BIRDS ARE SITTING ON THE TREES JUST SUBMERGED FROM THE WATER IS SO WONDERFUL TO SEE.

In winter thousands birds come to the sanctuary. And a place of natural beauty. In deluge time water covers 4meter above the ground where we went in winter by motorbike. Sooo remote area. Out of chaos and crowd.
