A very good place for shopping, especially clothe items. Both readymade and garments items can be found here. There are separate sections for men, women and child. Besides, you can find some stationary items too. The only problem is that there price is too high especially considering the same items in other shops.

This seems to be the most renowned silk mills and seller of Rajshahi. They have long tradition and fame too.

Level one contains factory factory is abuzzed with spinning sound of long machines. Level 2 has very big showrooms which display huge collection of dresses for male, female, kids I found it amazing that they also showcase rain coat price is reasonable. Environment is good. Serene and silent. No spinning whipping sound in level 2.

Records date the beginning of silk production in the region to the 13th century. It was then known as Bengal silk or Ganges silk. [3] The government of Pakistan started silk production in Rajshahi in 1952. [4] The Rajshahi Silk Factory was a state owned factory which was founded in 1961. In 1978 it was handed over to the Bangladesh Sericulture Development Board . Since then it has been making a loss. It was closed down in 30 November 2002. [5] Before 2002300 tonnes of strings were produced by this factory. In 2011 it was only 50 tonnes. [4] In 2011 the finance minister of Bangladesh, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith , [6] expressed interest in reopening the Rajshahi silk factory but the Privatisation Commission refused on the grounds that it was a loss making concern.

Kanchipuram silk sarees are believed to be the most superior silk sarees in the world. They are not only very beautiful and resplendent, they are also very expensive. There are all sorts of silk sarees being sold in the market.

Burn test to identify puresilk saree:

Pluck out a few threads from the warp and weft and light a fire at the end of the threads. Once fire has stopped, you will find a ball of ash left behind. Take this ball in your hand and rub it to smell. You will find the smell similar to the smell of burnt hair or burnt leather. If it is so, you are looking at a pure silk saree.

Zari test to identify pure silk saree

Look for the loose end of zari in the saree. Pure zari is made of red silk thread that is twisted with a silver thread and then dipped in 22 carat pure gold. If upon pulling the zari, you find that the silk thread is not red but white or any other colour, you can be pretty certain that the saree that you are buying is not a pure silk saree.

Look for the Silk Mark label

If the silk saree that you are buying is priced at Rupees 8000 or even less, you can be pretty certain that it is not a pure silk saree. Do not buy saree from a small shop or store and buy it from a reputable and reliable shop. Silk Board of India has come up with a concept called Silk Mark that is awarded only to pure silk sarees only.
