  Rupali Bank is a state-owned commercial bank established under the Bangladesh Bank (Nationalization) Ordinance, 1972. Rupali Bank was established with all the assets and liabilities of Muslim Commercial Bank, Australasia Bank and Standard Bank operating in East Pakistan. Rupali Bank started its banking activities in March 1982 with an authorized capital of Tk. 500 million and a paid up capital of Tk. 10 million. In 1983, the paid up capital of the bank was increased to Tk. 20 million. Subsequently, the bank's authorized and paid-up capital was increased to Rs. 6 billion and Rs. 1.25 billion, respectively, in line with the increase in the business activities, assets and liabilities of the bank.
