Rangpur government college is at Radhaballab. This is old renowned college of Rangpur. The college does have big open space and yard infront of it. The college does have Intermediate, degree pass course and Honour courses both Art and Science faculty. The college does have old student hostel at Jummapara.

My father took his graduation in science in the year 1942, from this college. Myself is an Associate Professor in chemistry under Gauhati University, Assam India. I am grateful to Rongpur Govt. College. Moreover my father is the classmate of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, then Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

On January 1, 1963, Rangpur's only college 'Carmichael' was declared as the number of seats. At the time, there is no college beside the students after the danger. Professor Fule Hossain, DC and M. Karani, ADC Abdus Sattar, District Education Officer Taheededur Rahman (Tea Rahman), Advocate Abul Kha, Amin Hossain, Abu Saleek, Abul Hossain, Professor Eman Uddin, Moinuddin Sarkar MP and many wealthy people of the district donated money and land to cooperate with the establishment of the college. Then on 25 July 1963 the college was established.

Professor Emaz Uddin has been appointed Principal and Professor Phule Hossain as Vice-Chancellor, and as a college in Kailash Ranjan high school and Ram Baru's zamindar home (Kalidham) college as a day college. The college was affiliated to the University of Rajshahi since its inception. Early IA Although the class was allowed to open, but based on the quality of education of the college, BA in 1965. Allows classes to open. In 1967, the college was transferred to its own building. The dormitories were opened at the zamindar house of Kalidham, which was started as a day college. Active and spontaneous participation and sacrifice of Rangpur people, historically recognized at home and abroad at the great liberation war of 1971. Moslem Uddin, a student of this college was martyred in the war of liberation. To honor his memory, the hostel was named as Shahi Moslem Uddin Hostel. On 1 November 1984 the college was governed. If this college becomes a government, then the student gets a lot of increase in the amount of time before. If the number of students in college increases, there is a crisis of class rooms. Then new buildings were built.

In 1993, the college was affiliated with the National University. In phases, hostels were built for the students' housing system. In order to facilitate the students, Rover Scouts, Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), and organizations of voluntary blood donor organizations are providing facilities to the students. In the academic year 1997-98, the National University allowed the opening of honors courses. At present, the college has HSC, degree pass course, 14 subjects honors and Masters course in 07 subjects
