  Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha shortly Rajuk, was was formed for the development of the city. This is the government agency. But its role should be more in the development of the capital. Especially the development of the city infrastructure is important. The cities will advance and the country will move forward.

  This Agency is responsible for the development of the Capital city of Bangladesh. Dhaka is the Capital of Bangladesh.
  
  The original name of the agency was DIT, Dhaka Improvement Trust, which was established in 1956. In 30 April, 1987, it was renamed as RAJUK or Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha.

  RAJUK:. In 1947, when India was partitioned, Dhaka became the seat of the provincial government of East Pakistan. The population increased from 0.28 million in 1951 to around 1.2 million in 1971. As the Capital of Bangladesh, which emerged as an independent country after the War of Liberation in 1971, Dhaka has now become one of the fasted growing cities in the world and its population is likely to exceed 16 million by this time.
  RAJUK is trying to make the capital city Dhaka-a planned, livable and environment friendly city. To fulfill the goal of achieving a planned city. RAJUK has taken initiative to make it livable through solving housing, transportation problems and creation of large scale water based public space/open space like Hatirjheel integrated project.

  The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) had been emerged through the ongoing crisis of planned and controlled development of Dhaka City. RAJUK established in April 30, 1987 by replacing Dhaka Improvement Trust (DIT). The prime intension of the organization was to develop, improve, extend and manage the city and the peripheral areas through a process of proper development planning and development control.
