Narsingdi govt. college was first started 1949 named as 'Narsingdi College'. The campus was at Shatirpara Girl's High School. Narsingdi College was shifted to ist's own campus in 1955.The land of college (around 10 Bigha) was denoted by landlord Jitendra kishor moulik.Mr Belayet Hossain denoted 10000 taka in that time.Narsingdi College was nationalised in 1980.

This is the biggest and largest college in Narsingdi with qualified teachers, labs and big space for everyone. It has 19 departments under 4 faculties and about 18,000 students in HSC, Degree, Honours and Masters.
