Mymensingh Medical College is a postgraduate government medical college conducting MBBS, BDS and postgraduate courses in 27 disciplines under Dhaka University and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Every year 197 students are admitted in MBBS and 52 in BDS courses of which 10% are foreign students and total of 138 students are admitted in different postgraduate courses.
It was started in 1924 in Baghmara as “Lytton Medical School”, according to the name of the then Governor of Bengal Mr. Lytton. The medical school had conducted Licentiate of Medical Faculty (LMF) till 1962. Mymensingh Medical College was named in 1962, which started conducting MBBS course with 32 students as the 1st batch (M 01). Mymensingh Medical Journal is the official journal of Mymensingh Medical College which is an Index Medicus / MEDLINE enlisted journal.
The campus shifted to Charpara in 1972 on a total of 84 acres of land.response / report this review -

During the later part of British India, it was felt that the people of the northeastern region needed the services of qualified medical personnel. The then Campbell Medical School of Calcutta and Mitford Medical School of Dhaka were unable to cater the needs of the growing population. With this background the third medical school for the region, was established in 1924 in Mymensingh, by the Earl of Lytton, the then governor of Bengal. The Lytton Medical School was to run a four-year course of Licentiate of Medical Faculty (LMF). This course of LMF continued till 1962, when it was upgraded to a five-year undergraduate medical course under Dhaka University and the school was renamed as Mymensingh Medical College.

Mymensingh Medical College is the only government medical college in Mymensingh district. Established in 1962. Students from all over the Bangladesh come here to study MBBS and BDS. This institute also provides postgraduation courses. Former students of MMC are working both in home and abroad.

Mymensingh Medical College is a postgraduate public medical college in Bangladesh. It has been conducting MBBS, BDS and postgraduate courses. It operates its curriculum in twenty seven disciplines. It is affiliated by Dhaka University and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Every year about one hundred and ninety seven students are admitted in MBBS. There are fifty two students in BDS courses. Ten percent of these are foreign students. Total of one hundred and thirty eight students are decelerated in dissimilar postgraduate courses.
The people of the northeastern region needed of qualified medical personnel during British India period. The Mitford Medical School was unable to provide the needs of the growing population. For this need it was established in 1924 at Mymensingh District. It was upgraded to a five-year undergraduate medical course under Dhaka University after 1962. In whole Bangladesh, the Mymensingh Medical College is the best medical college in our Mymensingh. It's established on 1962. MMC is Government Medical College in Charpara (Dhaka-Mymensingh) haiway. My life is not greatful but exceptional, because, l have born in Mymensingh.
