Mainly used for importing cars, needs lots of investment to reach it's potential and ease pressure from Chittagong Port.

The Port of Mongla is the second busiest seaport of Bangladesh. It is located in Bagerhat District in the southwestern part of the country; and lies 62 km north of the Bay of Bengal coastline. Mongla is one of the major ports of the Bengal delta. Mongla is located 48 km from the city of Khulna, which is a regional industrial center. Due to increasing congestion in Bangladesh's largest port in Chittagong, many international shipping companies have turned to Mongla as an alternative

Strong current at mount of river. Captain should be careful during drop anchor while waiting for pilot on board. Port charges are a bit expensive than Chittagong port.

Second largest seaport of Bangladesh. It has potentiality to become a hub of trade and business. It can be beneficial for India, Nepal, Bhutan and China because of it's close proximity. After completing the Padma bridge, Mongla-Khulna rail link, special economic zone and expansion work of Mongla port, it will be a model port of Asia.
