Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers Association (BOMMOA) has arranged a receiption program for the honour of Mar Engr Abdus Salam(9/E) & Mrs Rafiqul Islam, on 9th April'2016, at "Karnafully Hall' Hotel Agrabad, Chittagong, as they have been Awarded with " SHADHINATA PADAK"--2016, by the Govt.of Bangladesh.
Honourable Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Mr. AZM Nasir Uddin was present as the Chief Guest.Managing Director of Western Marine Ship yard Mar Engr Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain & General Secretary of BOMMOA, Mr. ASM Arifuzzaman also present in the Receiption program.

নাইজেরিয়াতে বাংলাদেশী থার্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ার অপহৃত ================================== এবার নাইজেরিয়াতে অপহৃত হয়েছে বাংলাদেশি থার্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ার এস এম আল আমীন। স্থানীয় জলদস্যুদের একটা দল দুই ভারতীয়, দুই পাকিস্থানি এবং এক বাংলাদেশী নাবিকে অপহরন করে নিয়ে গেছে। গ্রীসের মালিকানাধীন এ জাহাজটির স্থানীয় এজেন্ট এশিয়া মেরিন এজেন্সী। জাহাজ মালিক জানিয়েছে এ মূহুর্তে অপহৃত নাবিকরা ভালো আছেন। জলদস্যুরা নাবিকদের মুক্তির ব্যাপারে আলাপ আলোচনা প্রক্রিয়া শুরু করেছে।

6 MONTHS WORK SHOP TRAINING FOR THE ENGINEERING CADETS..................

Ashraf Noor, The President of "JMAAA" reported us that as per long discussion with the Department of Shipping high officials, the Engineering Cadets have to under go a work shop training of 3 Months instead of 6 months.
...
He also informed us that, he has already met the "BITAC " Director Dr.Ihsanul Karim & as per his request the BITAC Director has arranged 3 months work shop training of the Engineering Cadets Either " Group basis" or Individual basis".
BITAC Director reported us that already 2 Engineering Cadets have started their Work Shop Training.
So, all the Engineering Cadets are Requested to contact among them selves & approach BITAC accordingly to Start the Work Shop Training..........

4 YEARS GRADUATION COURSE AT "BSMRMU" FOR THE BMA PASS OUT CADETS==========================
This is a great news for the BMA passed out cadets who have successfully completed 2 years courses from Bangladesh Marine Academy.
While talking with "JMAAA" President Ashraf Noor sir informed the "Maritime Shongbad" that BSMRMU has taken decision to accept & start courses for the students/Cadets .

The Students /Cadets will be able to choose any of the 3 courses for their Hons course.
a) Maritime Law. b) Ports & Ship Management c) MBA.
BSMRMU Authority will publish Advertisement during May'2016 & The course will start from Sept'2016.
All the Cadets are requested to browse BSMRMU website for Further information.
The above schedule was confirmed to Ashraf Noor Sir, President, JMAAA, By the Dean of BSMRMU.
Meantime, The Cadets of BMA who have Already completed 1 year sea time, Can also be able to complete the 4 years Graduation Course at BSMRMU.
Ashraf Noor sir informed to the "Maritime Shongbad " that one Committee has been formed & approved by the BSMRMU Senate. The Committee is headed by The Commandant, BMA & few others.
The BSMRMU is waiting for the report of the Committee, from which BSMRMU will decide how much credit they will give for this one Year sea time.
On behalf of All the Mariners "Maritime Shongbad" is giving thanks to Ashraf Noor Sir for his relentless efforts for which this great job was possible & also thanks to BMA Authority for their best efforts regarding this issue.
Now if the Mariners don't get the job on the Marine Sector at least they can be able to apply for the other jobs on their own choice. ................................................. ================================

BANGLADESHI SEAFARER KIDNAPPED FROM THE VESSEL IN NIGERIA. =================================
Again this is a very Shocking News for the Bangladeshi Seafarer that One of our Bangladeshi 3rd Engr, S.M.Al -Amin Talukder, CDC no-C/O/ 5021, Pass port no.AF 3466798, was kidnapped from the Vessel "MT SAMPATIKI" On 25th March 2016 , Fri day, Around 0945 hrs LT, along with Pakistani Master & Chief off, Indian C/E & 2/E , While the Vessel was on the Way from Port Harcourt to Lagos , Ni...geria.
The local agent "Asia Marine Agecy" said that they receive one call from the Mumbai Branch office on 26th Morning & Came to know regarding the Kidnapping of 3rd Engr S.M Al Amin Talukder.
The local Agecy said that, their Principal Transocean Singapore Pte Ltd, Giving them hope that they will recovery the Victims as earlier as possible.
The Local Agecy also said that, they have already informed to Director General, Department of Shipping, In writing regarding this incident & also they have informed to the President, Bangladesh Merchant Marine officers Association, Capt Zillur Rahman Bhuyan regarding this incident through mail & requested his help/ Guidelines regarding this incident.
This is definitely a very shocking news for the Bangladeshi Mariners that they had to face another problem while the Global Mariners are trying to get free of the 4 Bangladeshi Seafarers who are already passing their very critical days more than a year in Nigerian Jail...........................................
