London College of Legal Studies (SOUTH) was established in August 2004 with the aim of providing highest quality education /tuition for students who are unable to afford to study in U.K universities and also to qualify as Barristers of the English and Wales Bar. The board of management is lead by some eminent lawyers and dignitaries of the country comprising Mr. Abdul Hamid Chowdhury, the Principal, Barrister Khaled Hamid Chowdhury, the Head of Laws and Barrister Asif Bin Anwar, the Principle Academic Guidance Tutor. Moreover, LCLS also has an active advisory council made up of Emeritus Professor Philip Thomas – Cardiff University, the UK acting as the academic consultant and other judges, leading academicians, lawyers and prominent jurists who consistently give their valuable suggestions for improvement and development of the Academy.
Over the past few years, our institute has gained an enormous amount of popularity and have been classified as one of the best English law tuition providers of the country mainly because of its location at the heart of the capital city, Dhaka, the wide variety of courses that it offers at reasonable fees, outstanding success rate in A-Level, Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law (University of London International Programmes) and LLB (Hons) examinations (University of London International Programmes and Northumbria University Open Learning respectively), the experienced teachers in the management with a blend of young and brilliant faculty members and the sincerest efforts of the administration.
LCLS (SOUTH) has been recognised as the Affiliate Centre of University of London, the highest recognition in Bangladesh for continuing and sustained commitment to developing excellence in respect of teaching, support to students and administrative processes. Affiliate Centre status is the highest level of recognition awarded by the University of London. Also, the BPP University, London launched its LLB (Hons) Distance Learning course in Bangladesh. LCLS (SOUTH) is the only Recognised Support Centre of BPP University who offer study support and access to state-of-art facilities.
At a Glance
The campus is based in a purpose built an independent building which has been leased for ten years renewable. It has 19 rooms with plenty of facilities adequate enough to accommodate near about 700 students who are currently studying for different courses with the institution the ratio of which is 60:40 (male:female).There are a number of lecture theatres and seminar rooms with air-conditioned facility built with the latest architectural design, with the provision of multimedia technology and internet. A well equipped IT lab with 24 hour internet facility, a rich library with all the latest law books, law journals and articles are also there to lend support to students. The canteen and the multipurpose room with all the indoor game facilities have added up to the goodwill of LCLS (SOUTH) over the years.
The academic staff of LCLS (SOUTH) is led by a team of Barristers who are constantly working on to improvise the curriculum and come up with new strategies and tactics in the teaching methods. There is also a specialized department made up of a team of student counselors who give individual attention to students, answering their queries, helping them with valuable advice regarding University correspondence and admission abroad, choosing the right course, visa counseling, etc. The Accounts Department, Administrative Department, and the IT Department are always ready to assist students in every possible way. LCLS (SOUTH) is also supported by its Legal Wing where a professional law chamber with Barrister Khaled Hamid Chowdhury as the Head of Chambers and a team of Barristers and advocates are providing services, where final year and meritorious LLB students are offered mini pupilages/ internship for practical experience. Students are also assisted by the institute to get pupilages in other leading chambers of the country..
