  The government is committed to provide power connections to all subscribers / families by next year. For this, the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board has accepted the necessary projects. The number of subscribers of Bangladesh Electricity Board of Bangladesh Electricity Board till March'017 is 8.8 million. Every month, 3 to 5 lakh new subscribers / households are getting electricity connections and 37 lakh subscribers have been given connections in the last fiscal year. Connection will be provided to 40 lakh subscribers in the current year 2016-2017. During the last eight years of the present government, 1 lakh 21 thousand km new construction lines have been made and the number of subscribers increased by 18 million. The connection process is getting faster and faster. Except for deposit work, all the power lines are being constructed at government cost.
