  No specific document has been found, according to some scholar this vihara was built or re-built by Pala King Mohipala.
  
  History:
  
  According to Ramcharitam, Jagaddal Mahaviharar was an important place for education in ancient Bengal. It was a Buddhist monastery. Historian Rampran Gupta (1869-1927) mentioned the famous place ‘Jagaddal Mahaviharar’ was situated in Dinajpur. According to some scholar the ancient city of Ramavati of the time of Rampala was located here and king Rampala built or re-built the great Jagaddal Mohavihara at the present site of Jagadal.
  
  If these views are accepted it has a strong probability that the remains we see at present were the Jodaddala Mohavhihar mentioned in the Ramacharitam.
  
  This site was declared protected in the year 1923 A.D. After long time first excavation was undertaker by the Dept of Archaeology Bangladesh in the year 1996 and excavation work is in progress till now (2013).
  
  Description:
  
  The place is to the north of Joypur-Dhamurai highway at Dhamurai in Naogaon. Three archaeological excavations were done here within 1996 to 2000 resulting an unveiled rectangular east faced structure with 80 m x 78 m. Inside this, there is a roofless yard and a queue of cella in all four side. Three doorways has been found which were made by stone. Along with this architectural remain of vihara a large number of antiquates were also found. Among them Buddha sculptures, Khodirbodoni Tara, Jomval, Hebroj, 14 bronze sculpture, terracotta plaques, pottery, terracotta ball, ornamental bricks etc are noticeable.

  It's a very ancient site. Locals call it as remnants of Bot Krishna Zamider Bari. After reaching at Naogaon, take local transport to reach Dhamorihat to visit this Vihara.
