The Infectious Diseases Hospital located at Mohakhali in Dhaka. It was established in 1956. It is a specialized hospital with 100 beds. To many, it is better known as a seven-story hospital or a dog bite clinic. It treats diphtheria, tetanus, measles, AIDS, rabies, typhoid fever, chickenpox, viral hepatitis, jaundice, mumps, measles, and other infectious diseases. The rabies control program located in Dhaka Mohakhali is known as the Disease Control Branch of the Department of Health. The outdoor emergency department is here. If you want to give the vaccine to the patient, you have to buy a ticket for only 10 rupees. Admission is 15 rupees. After admission, you have to pay 263 rupees 60 paise for the bed. There are 100 beds, 40 paying beds, 60 free beds. 99 percent of the patients are at all times of the year. However, food is free. The cost of buying the vaccine from outside is 1,400 rupees. Here the treatment lasts from 8 am to 8 pm. Every day 250 to 300 patients come to the emergency department. There are more men than women. The number of patients infected with dogs is high. Then there are patients infected with cats, foxes, monkeys, and badgers. The reason for being more male patients here said the caretaker. Md. Shah Alam Talukder said men work outside. Return at night. There are dogs, monkeys, and foxes in and around Dhaka city. So men are more affected. He added that each of these animals can cause rabies. The emergency department is open on all holidays, including Fridays. Recently, it has been seen that long lines, women, men, and children are all standing in line. The working doctor will write down what kind of treatment should be given. In addition to the vaccine, drugs are given to critically injured patients. Medicines have to be bought from outside.
