The school was founded on 15 March 1965. Following the inauguration, till 1968 it was a junior school. In 1972 the school was converted into a high school. The students from the school participated in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination (O-level equivalent) for the first time in 1973 and earned an extraordinary success for the very first time.

During the first 25 years, the school kept its growth as a high school only (10 years of formal education according to the Bangladeshi Standards). Following the demand and the requests from the guardians, a college (11th and 12th year of formal education according to the Bangladeshi Standards) for female students was added in 1991.

To make room for more students the administration opened a new branch on the occasion of the 30th anniversary in 1996. That branch started its activities at Rampura with 702 students. Faizur Rahman is the founder-headmaster of the institution. seeing the request of people, the government has granted 1 acre and 6 Katha or 402m2 for a very new branch in Mugda.In 2011, the third branch of Ideal School and College started its journey.

It's not a college.its pure BUSINESS CENTRE. They don't care about education. They want money only. Sometimes exams are held without taking classes bcz each exam generates money. In spite of monthly payment 1500 tk they have charged electricity,gas,water bills from students. They don't care about the result of the student.

This college has a small but beautiful campus. But the biggest problem is that it is one of the most costliest college around Dhaka city. Quality of education is medium.

Dhanmondi Ideal College is a private college situated at the Dhanmondi area in Dhaka, was established in 1969. Only Higher Secondary education with science, commerce and humanities groups is available here. Students are to attend the classes regularly. If the learners' class attendance marks at least below 80%, they are not promoted to next classes, even, whatever their result maybe. The learners present 100% in the classes deserve credit from the college authority. I wish this institution all the best and keep it good spirits in air to promote good human being.
